8/01/25 Patriots TE Motivated By Defensive Teammate. New England Patriots tight end Austin Hooper believes in constantly improving his performance on the football field. At present, Hooper is making ball security is primary focus — a decision he made with a bit of help from Patriots teammate Anfernee Jennings. "I thought my ball security was good, and Anfernee reminded me 'POW' it wasn't," Hooper said of Jennings' recent stripping the ball from his grasp during training camp team drills. Rather than opt for entering unrestricted free agency at the start of the NFL year in March, the 30-year-old ultimately decided to stay within the friendly confines of Foxborough, Massachusetts.

7/29/25 Key Patriots Veteran Returns To Practice, Removed From List. The New England Patriots received some good news on Tuesday. Austin Hooper returned to the practice fields for the first time during training camp, indicating he's been activated off the physically unable to perform list. New England shelved him with an undisclosed injury on July 19. The Patriots will likely need him to continue being reliable considering what the depth looks like at his position.

7/22/25 Vrabel's Vision: Patriots Head Coach Sets the Stage for Training Camp. Vrabel highlighted several players who began camp on the PUP or NFI lists, including Austin Hooper, Mack Hollins, Vederian Lowe, Jahlani Tavai, Carlton Davis III, Josh Minkins, and Jeremiah Webb and said that Tavai and Davis could return as early as tomorrow's first day of training camp practice. Vrabel also confirmed that veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs is expected to participate in camp just eight months after ACL surgery.

6/24/25 Patriots Austin Hooper Attends Prestigious Tight End University. New England Patriots tight end Austin Hooper is channeling his inner “Thornton Melon“ this week by tangentially heading “Back to School.” Hooper, as revealed on Monday, will be the Pats' lone representative in the 2025 class at Tight End University. The three-day event, held in Nashville, TN, will be a workout summit, organized by George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and retired NFL legend Greg Olsen.

6/05/25 Patriots Linked to Interesting Trade for Bears Playmaker. The New England Patriots have taken great measures to address their offense this offseason, adding multiple wide receivers while also addressing their backfield. New England re-signed Austin Hooper back in March, one year after also extending Hunter Henry. Youngster Jaheim Bell is slotted into the third slot on the depth chart, and with Drake Maye seeming very comfortable with the two veterans, the Pats seem fairly set at that spot.

4/30/25 Patriots' Austin Hooper Reveals Reason for Return. New England Patriots tight end Austin Hooper wasted little time in choosing his football home for the upcoming season. Rather than opt for entering unrestricted free agency at the start of the NFL year in March, the 30-year-old ultimately decided to stay within the friendly confines of Foxborough, Massachusetts. Hooper signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Pats, with a maximum value of $7 million and $4 million guaranteed.

3/24/25 Patriots Should Make This Trade With Raiders. Austin Hooper is also in his 30s. While both produced well last season - 111 catches for 1,150 yards and five touchdowns between the two of them - New England could use another capable tight end, preferably a young player with a bright future who could grow into a top performer over the coming years. After all, Hooper re-signed but it was only a one-year deal. Tight end isn't considered among the top priorities for New England this off-season, but most believe it's an area that needs some attention.

3/11/25 Karen Guregian: Patriots made strides with free agents, but there's an asterisk. The Patriots came out swinging on the first day of the NFL's free agency “negotiating” period, also known as legal tampering. Coupled with Harold Landry's signing Sunday, the Patriots handed out close to $160 million in guaranteed money with the new contracts. While they had a terrific day bolstering the defense, landing the top defensive lineman (Milton Williams), with upgrades at cornerback and linebacker, the offense still needs work. Yes, they agreed to terms with right tackle Morgan Moses, re-signed tight end Austin Hooper, and added receiver depth with veteran Mack Hollins, but the top priority fixes remained as of late Monday night.

3/09/25 Reports: Patriots signing LB Harold Landry III, TE Austin Hooper. The New England Patriots signed free agent outside linebacker Harold Landry III on a three-year contract and re-signed tight end Austin Hooper to a one-year deal, according to media reports on Sunday night. Landry, a one-time Pro Bowl selection who was recently released by the Tennessee Titans in a salary cap move, has a new contract worth $43.5 million with $26 million guaranteed, per reports. Hooper, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, is returning to New England on a $5 million contract with a maximum value of $7 million, ESPN reported.

2/17/25 How franchise tag window could impact Patriots. There are plenty of difficult decisions to be made this offseason in Foxborough, but none will come when the NFL's franchise tag window opens on Tuesday. New England's best free agents — Jonathan Jones, Austin Hooper, Deatrich Wise — are all in their 30s and none of them approach the franchise tag threshold. Useful players the Patriots may hope to retain on one-year deals, but not at those prices. The tag window runs through March 4, so there will be plenty of intel to gather next week at the NFL Combine.

1/07/25 Which Patriots free agents will be back in 2025, and which ones will not?. The New England Patriots have a lot of business to tend to this offseason. While finding a head coach is the top item on the team's to-do list, the Patriots also have a lot of work to do on the roster for 2025. After now-former head coach Jerod Mayo promised the team would "burn some cash" last offseason, Eliot Wolf and the Patriots went out and had a lackluster soiree in free agency. Tight end Austin Hooper worked out well and running back Antonio Gibson showed some flashes.

1/05/25 Veteran Patriots tight end earns $125,000 bonus in Week 18 vs. Bills. Signing veteran tight end Austin Hooper to a one-year, $3.125 million this past offseason was arguably the New England Patriots' most underrated move, as he's been a reliable option for their trio of quarterbacks this season. Despite being behind Hunter Henry on the depth chart, Hooper entered New England's Week 18 matchup with the Buffalo Bills needing just four receptions for a $125,000 bonus.

12/10/24 Veteran leader: Patriots must all answer blunt question over final month. With a month left in the season, the 3-10 Patriots have nothing to play for in the standings. Jerod Mayo's team has already been mathematically eliminated from postseason play and they're guaranteed their third straight losing season. In his ninth NFL year, Austin Hooper has seen all sorts of Decembers play out. No matter the standings, the veteran tight end believes everyone on New England's roster needs to answer a blunt question over the final month of the season.

12/09/24 Patriots veteran has intriguing example of Drake Maye's growth. Austin Hooper has built some chemistry down the stretch with Drake Maye. Over the past four games, the veteran tight end has caught 15 passes from the rookie quarterback for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Speaking in the locker room at Gillette Stadium on Monday morning, Hooper credited Maye for getting him into the end zone against the Colts. “He threw me open again,” Hooper said.

12/01/24 49ers urged to sign 2-time Pro Bowler to give Brock Purdy more help. The San Francisco 49ers have not looked dominant in 2024 like last season. While the season is nowhere near over, they could bring in some new faces in free agency to make sure they do not struggle again next season. The 49ers are currently 5-6, in last place in the NFC West. While looking ahead to what the 49ers need to do to get back to dominating in 2025, FanSided's Peter Pancy urged the team to sign tight end Austin Hooper.
