8/02/25 Brewers' Buzzer-Beating Deal at Trade Deadline Raises Eyebrows. The Milwaukee Brewers were mostly idle through the final day of MLB's trade deadline. As teams around the league hurried to improve themselves or execute a fire sale, the Brewers were nowhere to be found on the transaction wire. The Brewers sent Nestor Cortes to the Padres for a speedy outfielder in Brandon Lockridge.

8/01/25 Brewers Make Trades Before Deadline. MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers made a pair of deals before the trade deadline. The Brewers began the day by sending pitcher Nestor Cortes, infielder Jorge Quintana and cash to the San Diego Padres for outfielder Brandon Lockridge. Cortes pitched just two games for the Brewers before he was injured in April. He recently returned from the injured list. Milwaukee then acquired pitchers Shelby Miller and Jordan Montgomery from the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash or a player to be named later. Miller was 3-3 with 10 saves and a 1.98 ERA for the D-Backs. Montgomery is out for the year with an injury. The Brewers return from a day off to play at Washington tonight. pre game show at 5:10

7/31/25 Brewers Bombshell: Buzzer-Beater Lands Jordan Montgomery Plus All-Star. The Milwaukee Brewers were quiet all day on Thursday until right at the end. Milwaukee's first big move of the day on Thursday was sending Nestor Cortes to the San Diego Padres right before the deadline. Milwaukee has a surplus of starting pitchers and Cortes was the odd man out. When the reports surfaced about Cortes going to San Diego, it seemed like that might be the last move of the day, but Milwaukee got one more buzzer beater in.

7/29/25 Brewers Reportedly Listening On Trade Offers For Veteran Starter. The Milwaukee Brewers aren't going to be categorized as sellers at this year's Trade Deadline, but they very well could trade from their big league roster. The starting rotation is an area of abundance for the Crew and it's always in high demand at this time of year. The Brewers have Nestor Cortes returning from the IL soon after missing the last four months almost with a flexor strain.

7/29/25 Yankees Reunion With Brewers Starter Remains Possible, Per Insider. Will the Milwaukee Brewers hang onto Nestor Cortes past the Thursday trade deadline? Cortes' season was derailed early on by a left flexor strain, and he's only made two starts since arriving in a trade with the New York Yankees. It would be hard to say the trade has flopped, though, since the Brewers appear to have found a starting position player in Caleb Durbin for ex-closer Devin Williams. Now that Cortes is nearly ready to return from the injured list, though, he doesn't project to have a spot in the starting rotation.

7/29/25 Yankees Could Bring Back All-Star Pitcher. As the New York Yankees look to fill out their starting rotation ahead of the July 31 deadline, perhaps they could reunite with a former All-Star of theirs who's become a hot trade candidate of late. The Milwaukee Brewers have surged up the standings over the past month and are tied for the best record in the National League at 62-43, but recent reports have suggested that they're open to dealing left-hander Nestor Cortes Jr. over the next few days. With that in mind, the New York Post's Jon Heyman believes that the Yankees could potentially look into bringing the 30-year-old back to the Bronx. Milwaukee has an exceptional amount of pitching depth while its starters own the second-best ERA in the league at 3.33, thus making Cortes expendable.

7/27/25 Brewers rumors: The former All-Star pitcher Milwaukee is willing to trade. The Milwaukee Brewers have charged up the standings in recent weeks. With the MLB trade deadline approaching, the Brewers could deal Nestor Cortes Jr to improve their hitting. USA Today's Bob Nightengale has the latest ahead of Thursday's deadline. “The Milwaukee Brewers will start listening to offers for starter Nestor Cortes, who completed his last rehab start,” Nightengale wrote.

7/25/25 Brewers get great pitching update amid scary NL rise. The Brewers, the best team in baseball over the past month or so, could get a boost soon on the pitching front in the form of Nestor Cortes.

7/23/25 Yankees Traded Flourishing Infielder for Struggling Closer. The New York Yankees have made their 2025 goals abundantly clear: They're trying to return to the World Series and win it all. In an effort to do so, the Pinstripes traded pitcher Nestor Cortes and infielder Caleb Durbin to the Milwaukee Brewers this season, adding closer Devin Williams to the roster. The Yankees are now looking to fill gaps in the both the bullpen and the infield before the MLB trade deadline rolls around at the end of the month. Utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera was great at third base, but suffered a potentially season-ending injury in May. The Yankees tried to compensate by shifting Jazz Chisholm Jr. to third, but it was clear Chisholm excels at second, and he's since been moved back.

7/15/25 Insider Thinks Brewers Have Perfect Deadline Blockbuster Piece. The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be one of the more interesting teams to follow in the final days before the 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline. The deadline is scheduled to pass on July 31st and right now the Brewers seemingly have a surplus of starting pitching. It's going to get even more difficult to figure out the rotation once Nestor Cortes works his way back as well. There's been a lot of noise about Freddy Peralta but that seems like too big of a loss with Milwaukee firmly in contention in the National League Central.

7/05/25 Milwaukee Brewers Left-Hander Nears Return, to Make Minor League Rehab Assignment. Veteran left-hander Nestor Cortes had a horrible start to the season, giving up eight runs in two innings to his old team, the New York Yankees, on March 29. Cortes, 30, hasn't pitched since April 3, sidelined since due to a left elbow flexor strain that eventually landed him on the 60-day injured list. Before then, he's got a date with at least one more rehab assignment. Cortes told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel he has missed being part of the team on a daily basis.

7/03/25 Brewers Took Step To Bring Ex-Yankees All-Star To Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Brewers took a significant step in getting a piece of the starting rotation back on Wednesday. Milwaukee acquired Nestor Cortes in a trade with the New York Yankees this past offseason, but he hasn't gotten much time in the majors this year. Cortes pitched three innings and didn't allow a run. Cortes gave up just one base hit and struck out four batters while throwing 37 pitches.

4/18/25 Brewers call up IF Durbin after demoting Dunn. Durbin, who has no major league experience, came to the Brewers along with left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes in the offseason trade that sent two-time NL reliever of the year Devin Williams to the New York Yankees. The 5-foot-7 infielder was batting .278 with a .316 on-base percentage, two homers, three RBIs and three steals in 13 games with Nashville.

4/07/25 Fatal flaw Milwaukee Brewers must address for 2025 MLB season. The Milwaukee Brewers got off to a rough start to the 2025 season. With an injury to Nestor Cortes Jr, only Freddy Peralta is still healthy from their projected rotation. The Brewers' pitching rotation is a concern and could cost them in 2025. Cortes went on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his left elbow.

4/06/25 Brewers place LHP Nestor Cortes (elbow) on 15-day IL. The Milwaukee Brewers placed left-hander Nestor Cortes on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a flexor strain in his pitching elbow. Cortes is headed to the injured list due to a flexor strain for the second time in eight months. He returned from the injury and was able to pitch in the World Series last season for the New York Yankees. Brewers assistant general manager Matt Kleine told reporters that the starting pitcher's injury isn't expected to be a “long-term issue.” Also on Sunday, the Brewers recalled left-hander Graham Wolfram from Triple-A Nashville. Cortes (1-1, 9.00) rebounded from a disastrous season-opening outing against the Yankees by allowing one hit over six shutout innings in

4/03/25 Nestor Cortes rallies from Yankees disaster to pitch Brewers past Reds. April 4 - Nestor Cortes bounced back from a historically bad start with six innings of one-hit ball, combining with three relievers to pace the Milwaukee Brewers to a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series. It was third consecutive 1-0 loss for the Reds, while the Brewers have won three straight after opening with four losses. Reds starter Nick Lodolo (1-1) retired the first nine hitters before the Brewers got on the board with an unearned run in the fourth. Jackson Chourio opened with a ground-rule double to right-center. Chourio advanced to third when William Contreras reached on an error when Lodolo dropped the toss covering first. Sal Frelick's
