The Arizona Diamondbacks have opted to keep starting pitcher Zac Gallen after trading away Merrill Kelly and Eugenio Suarez ahead of Thursday's trade deadline. Gallen, an impending free agent, has been the subject of trade rumors for weeks, but the club did not find the right deal to move away from their now longest-tenured starter. On Wednesday, it was reported by WEEI 93.7's Rob Bradford that the Boston Red Sox have emerged as an interested party for two of the D-backs' prominent assets: right-hand starters Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly. Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen gave up six earned runs over six innings in Arizona's 6-3 loss to the Houston Astros. Gallen gave up seven hits, including two home runs.
