7/28/25 Ex-Mets starter Max Scherzer clears the air after unexpected confrontation with teammate. When Toronto Blue Jays starter Eric Lauer appeared with a busted lip before cameras last week, none were to surprised when he accused teammate Max Scherzer of giving him “six stitches” for messing with him on his start day. The unwritten rule stands across the game: DO NOT talk to the starting pitcher on his start day. “I did not punch Eric Lauer in the face,” Scherzer told the host of Blue Jays Central pregame, Hazel Mae on Saturday, laughing.

7/24/25 Eric Lauer's recent praise ought to frighten Yankees fans. After making a statement in their series win over the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays continued their winning ways Thursday. The team began a four-game stint against the AL Central-leading Tigers and easily dispatched Detroit 11-4 behind another strong performance from Eric Lauer. The big lefty drew praise from infielder Ernie Clement after stifling the Tigers. The seventh-year veteran was exceptional for the Blue Jays on Thursday, allowing just one earned run on five hits and no walks with six strikeouts in a season-high eight innings.

7/20/25 Blue Jays Veteran Left-Handed Pitcher Deemed Team's 'Unsung MVP' This Season. The Toronto Blue Jays are proving to be the team to beat in the American League right now. Heading into Sunday, the team has a 57-41 record, and they lead the AL East division by a healthy 3.0 games. The Blue Jays signed Eric Lauer this offseason, but he was not on the big league roster to begin the year. Lauer started 2025 in Triple-A, but was quickly called up after a decently strong showing through five starts in Buffalo.

6/29/25 Red Sox lineup: Romy Gonzalez takes over leadoff spot. BOSTON — Having snapped their season-long six-game losing streak Saturday with a thumping of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Red Sox will be looking to continue the momentum Sunday by taking the weekend series. Facing lefty Eric Lauer, the Red Sox have their righthanded lineup, led by Romy Gonzalez, who is hitting leadoff for just the second time this season. Gonzalez has a big day in Saturday's rout, collecting three hits including a home run. The lineup also includes, naturally, Rob Refnsyder, another of the Red Sox' lefty mashers. With Marcelo Mayer still on bereavement lead, the Sox have Nick Sogard starting at second and Nate Eaton at third base. On the mound, Walker Buehler will be attempting

6/18/25 Diamondbacks have a bad all-around night vs. Blue Jays. Coming off a gut-punch walk-off loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks had very little to offer Wednesday's 8-1 loss. Blue Jays starter Eric Lauer continued his career-long excellence against Arizona dating back to his Padres days in 2018. Eduardo Rodriguez's elevated pitch count only allowed him to get through 4.2 innings with one earned run, while D-backs relievers Tayler Scott and Kevin Ginkel combined to surrender six earned runs.

5/30/25 How the Blue Jays rotation plays with fire but rarely gets burned. Entering the year, the Jays were projected to have a strong starting five, but behind that group there didn't appear to be much depth. Scherzer hasn't pitched since, and yet the Jays somehow found a way to piece it together. One of the main reasons has been the effectiveness of left-hander Eric Lauer, who signed a minor-league deal during the off-season before getting promoted in late April to help fill the void left by Scherzer. “He has been great,” Jays manager John Schneider said of Lauer.

8/04/24 Former Padres Pitcher Has Deal in Korea: Reports. Former San Diego Padres pitcher Eric Lauer has had plenty of chances to latch on with a major league team. 5/20/24 Houston Astros Sign Former Double-Digit Winning Starting Pitcher. Pitching has been the major point of conversation that has surrounded the Houston Astros to start this year. With virtually every one of their expected starters picking up an injury and missing time already, the front office had to be going over different options they could draw upon for pitching depth after their minor leaguers looked overwhelmed when facing MLB hitters. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, they signed free agent Eric Lauer to a minor league deal and sent him to their Triple-A affiliate. The 28-year-old was a first round pick of the San Diego Padres in 2016 and was considered one of their top prospects before making his debut two seasons later.
