Zach McKinstry's home run off Logan Allen in the fourth inning on Sunday was the 28th of his career, but just the second he's hit against a left-handed pitcher. As a left-handed hitter who's spent much of his career in a utility role, McKinstry has typically seen the bulk of his at-bats against right-handed pitching. After Sunday, McKinstry is hitting .362 (17-for-47) with a .974 OPS against lefties this season, including three doubles, two triples, and now a home run. McKinstry was named the first “Most Valuable Philanthropist” of the 2025 season by the Players Trust, the charitable arm of the MLB Players Association. The recognition comes with a $10,000 grant to support McKinstry's work with various charities, including BBQ Mission, a Phoenix-based nonprofit that serves meals and spiritual support to the homeless.
