7/29/25 Toronto Blue Jays catcher ends up pitching and he throws ridiculously slow. Toronto Blue Jays catcher Ali Sanchez probably wasn't expecting to find himself on the mound when he showed up to the ballpark on Tuesday. With Toronto down 14-4 in the eighth inning and not wanting to further tax their bullpen, they opted to put in Sanchez for the final inning of relief. One of Sanchez's pitches came in at just 35.3 miles per hour, or 56.8 kilometres per hour.

Catcher Ali Sanchez, who spent a summer in the Detroit Tigers organization, has signed a Major League contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates announced Friday evening that they signed catcher Ali Sanchez to a one-year deal and claimed right-handed pitcher Roddery Munoz off waivers from the Washington Nationals. Additionally, they formally announced the release of right-handed pitcher Thomas Hatch, who intends on signing with the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball league.

6/22/22 Tigers trade veteran catcher, clearing logjam in Toledo. When the Detroit Tigers picked up Ali Sanchez off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals, it gave the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens four catchers on their roster. Although Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said organizations can never have enough catching depth, the Mud Hens decided that three would be more than sufficient. The Tigers dealt Ryan Lavarnway to the Miami Marlins for a nominal cash amount on Tuesday, reuniting the veteran catcher with one of his many former organizations.

8/06/20 Mets option Ali Sanchez to alternate site. The Mets have optioned catcher Ali Sanchez to their alternate site in Brooklyn, a move made to bring their active roster down to 28 players. The reduction from a 30-man roster to a 28-man roster had been planned when Major League Baseball set the rules for its 60-game 2020 season, but instead of the originally planned reduction to a 26-man roster two weeks from now, rosters will remain at 28 throughout the season.
