The Bears got their man in the one-round mock draft ESPN posted from draft analyst Matt Miller, as they took Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love 18th overall. The need for an every down back more physical than D'Andre Swift could be a priority for the Bears by the time they draft again next year and Love is rated by Pro Football Focus, ESPN and many others as best in this draft. Most of the whining about an unaddressed need at running back for the Bears focuses on how they need a better main ball carrier than D'Andre Swift to execute Ben Johnson's offense. It wouldn't hurt having the experienced depth, however, considering Roschon Johnson has 136 carries in two seasons, Travis Homer 89 in six seasons and no other back has carried the ball in the NFL. Without even actually moving, Bears running back D'Andre Swift continued to run toward the goal line like a broken-field runner dodging tacklers. The signing by Denver of Chargers free agent running back J.K. Dobbins probably removes the last real starting quality back from the group of remaining free agents. The best remaining unsigned backs are probably Cam Akers and Jamaal Williams.
