7/26/25 | It's Fair to Want Consistency, But Julio Rodriguez is Already a Special Player. Earlier this week, Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez rewrote the record books, in multiple ways. First, he became only the second Mariners player to record 20 stolen bases in each of his first four seasons (joining Ichiro), then he became the first player in baseball history to record at least 15 homers and 20 stolen bases in each of his first four seasons. As I explained on the most recent edition of the Refuse to Lose podcast, Mariners fans (myself included) need to do a better job appreciating Rodriguez. 7/25/25 | Seattle Mariners Star Accomplishes Something Never Before Seen in Baseball History. The Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 on Thursday night, earning a much-needed victory after a difficult loss on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The win has Seattle at 55-48 and in sole possession of the second wild card spot in the American League, and they are 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees for the top spot. Trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning, M's star Julio Rodriguez tied the game with a solo home run to right field, making baseball history with his blast. 7/22/25 | Seattle Mariners trade their other Julio Rodriguez to Royals. Fans of the Kansas City Royals may be feeling a similar way as fans of the Baltimore Orioles did back in May after a trade with the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners traded minor league catcher Julio E. Rodriguez – not to be confused with three-time M's All-Star center fielder Julio Y. Rodríguez or recently suspended Astros minor league pitcher Julio C. Rodriguez – to the Royals in exchange for cash Tuesday. Source: https://sports.mynorthwest.com/mlb/seattle-mariner... |
7/18/25 | Former Seattle Mariners INF, Current Radio Host, Discusses How Julio Rodriguez Can Grow. The Seattle Mariners open up the second half of the season on Friday night, and they'll be looking for Julio Rodriguez to keep up the positive momentum he had before the All-Star break. If the M's are going to improve upon their 51-45 record and get to the playoffs this season, Rodriguez having a better second half will be a big part of it. 7/15/25 | Seattle Mariners Superstar Julio Rodriguez Making Modern History on Defense. Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez won't be at the All-Star Game on Tuesday after withdrawing from the event. As a result, fans watching the Midsummer Classic won't get to see his trademark speed and defense, but Rodriguez showed it off in the Mariners' last series before the All-Star Break. Rodriguez had a solid offensive series for Seattle against the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, hitting three home runs in as many games, but a throw he made in the series finale was the latest in a series of impressive plays for the three-time All-Star. In the Mariners' 8-4 win against the Tigers on Sunday, Rodriguez had an outfield assist that registered at 96.5 mph. According to a post on "X" from Sarah Langs (SlangsOnSports), that throw was tied for the third-fastest outfield assist for the Mariners of the Statcast era (2015-present). 7/14/25 | Seattle Mariners Star Delivers Heartfelt Message About Pulling Out of All-Star Game. On Friday morning, Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez pulled out of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, electing to stay home and rest and recover from a difficult first half. While just speculation, it's likely that Rodriguez was seeking a mental reset as well as a physical one. Taking Rodriguez's place on the American League team is teammate Randy Arozarena, who put together a terrific first half. Hitting .251, Arozarena had 17 home runs and 48 RBIs to go along with 16 stolen bases. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/mariners/seattle-mariners-s... |
7/13/25 | Seattle Mariners Use Home Run Barrage, End First Half in Possession of Playoff Spot. The Seattle Mariners hit five solo home runs on Sunday en route to an 8-4 win over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. With the win, the Mariners completed a sweep of the best team in the American League, and they atoned for getting swept earlier in the week at the hands of the New York Yankees. The M's got blasts from Julio Rodriguez, Randy Arozarena, Mitch Garver, Jorge Polanco and Cole Young in the win. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/mariners/news/seattle-marin... |
7/12/25 | When it Comes to Seattle Mariners' Julio Rodriguez and His Struggles, Two Words Come to Mind. Entering play on Saturday, Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez is hitting just .244 with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs. When it comes to Rodriguez's struggles this season, a lot has been discussed, but I've landed on two words: Approach, and identity. ...You think he's figured it out, you think he's regressed, you think it's the approach, you think it's the mechanics, you think it's he's trying too hard... I have landed on basically, to me, one thought with Julio, that I think his approach is flawed right? In addition to the to the word approach is the word identity. 7/11/25 | Mariners' Julio Rodriguez skips out on MLB All-Star Game. When fellow players controversially voted Julio Rodriguez into the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, fans once again condemned the fairness of the selection system. The Seattle Mariners center fielder will not be competing in the Midsummer Classic, per the team. “He will take the break to recuperate, rest and prepare for the second half,” the M's said in a press release, per Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports. Rodriguez has certainly not performed like an All-Star from an offensive standpoint, posting a .244 batting average, .301 on-base percentage, .386 slugging percentage and .687 OPS through 92 games this season. 7/11/25 | BREAKING: Seattle Mariners' Julio Rodriguez Won't Participate in All-Star Game. The Seattle Mariners announced on Friday morning that outfielder Julio Rodriguez will not participate in the All-Star Game next week, despite being voted in by his fellow players. Julio Rodriguez who was voted into the 2025 All-Star Game via the players ballot, will not be able to participate this year. It's been a difficult first half of the season for Rodriguez offensively, who has seen his batting average drop to .244 and his on-base percentage dip to .301. The Mariners - and Rodriguez - will hope that some time off will help him recover, presumably mentally and physically. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/mariners/news/breaking-seat... |
7/08/25 | Should the Seattle Mariners Drop Julio Rodriguez in the Batting Order?. It feels, to me, like it's time to move Julio Rodriguez down in the batting order for the Seattle Mariners. Not because Rodriguez is as bad as the vitriol online suggests, but because he could stand to benefit from a different perspective, and the team could stand to benefit from relieving some of the pressure on him. Rodriguez has hit second much of the year, and now, he's doing it in front of Cal Raleigh. While the logic may suggest that Rodriguez is getting more pitches to hit in front of Raleigh, he could also be getting others pitcher's best pitches, as they want to do all they can to avoid Raleigh stepping to the plate. 7/07/25 | Boston Red Sox Outfielder Seemingly Takes Shot at Julio Rodriguez Over All-Star Game Snub. Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez earned his third All-Star appearance on Sunday afternoon, and Boston Red Sox outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela is evidently not happy about it. Rafaela re-posted on "X," a post from @RedSoxMuse_ which compared the numbers of both players, with Rafaela having the edge in most key categories. Rafaela has been excellent since May 27, posting the third-highest Fangraphs WAR in the American League since that time. While Rafaela has a right to be upset that he wasn't included, it's not really fair to take his frustration out on Rodriguez. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/mariners/news/boston-red-so... |

Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez used his legs to join a special group in franchise history on Thursday night against the Kansas City Royals. --Julio Rodríguez collected 1 walk, recorded his 14th stolen base of the season, and his 100th career stolen base in the 1st inning, becoming the 10th player in franchise history with 100+ stolen bases. Julio Rodriguez hit a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning and Randy Arozarena drove in two runs as the Seattle Mariners beat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Wednesday night. 6/26/25 | Former Seattle Mariners Infielder Delivers Opinion on Julio Rodriguez and His Approach. If the Seattle Mariners are going to make a push to the playoffs, they are going to do it, in part, because of Julio Rodriguez getting truly hot at the plate. Rodriguez has been solid this year, but not spectacular. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/mariners/news/former-seattl... |
