7/30/25 MN Twins Clubhouse Boils Over as Trade Deadline Looms. The Minnesota Twins lost in ugly fashion on Wednesday and Griffin Jax blew up the clubhouse after his removal.

7/29/25 MLB rumors: ESPN proposes blockbuster Phillies trades with Twins, Pirates. Currently one and a half games behind the New York Mets in the NL East, it's clear that there is still work to do for the Philadelphia Phillies. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is no stranger to making noise at the MLB trade deadline. ESPN writers Paul Hembekides and Eric Karabell suggested that Dombrowski and Philadelphia will pull off not just one, but two trades: with the Minnesota Twins for reliever Griffin Jax and utility man Willi Castro, plus a swap with the Pittsburgh Pirates for relievers David Bednar and Dennis Santana.

7/24/25 Pros and Cons: Should Mets trade for Griffin Jax?. Contenders almost always covet elite bullpen arms at the MLB trade deadline, so Griffin Jax, a 30-year-old right-hander with eye-popping stuff, should be quite a popular guy.

7/23/25 Another Coveted MN Twin Open to Being Traded. The Minnesota Twins are firmly entrenched as sellers but moving controllable pieces is a different animal. Griffin Jax weighs in on the idea.

7/17/25 Yankees Could Pull Off Blockbuster Bullpen Move. New York Yankees relievers collectively own the 11th-worst ERA of any unit in the league at 4.08, making the bullpen a key area of need over the next two weeks before the July 31 trade deadline passes. There will be plenty of competition for the top arms, but considering the Yankees are expected to adopt an aggressive approach, they should have no issue landing a few quality relievers. With a 47-49 record while sitting four games back of a Wild Card spot in the American League, the Minnesota Twins are one of several clubs currently on the bubble in terms of whether they're going to buy, stand pat or sell at the deadline. Should they decide on the latter option and focus on the future, the New York Post's Joel Sherman listed right-handers Jhoan Durán and Griffin Jax as potential players of interest for the Yankees.

7/08/25 Twins belt Cubs behind 1,240 feet of homers in 8th inning. It looked like another dicy Griffin Jax outing when the first two batters reached against him to start the eighth inning, but Minnesota's standout setup man struck out the next two batters and got out of the jam to preserve a 2-0 lead. Then the Twins' bats woke up and rolled to an 8-1 win over the Chicago Cubs (54-37). Byron Buxton led off the bottom of the eight with a walk, and one pitch and 420 feet later the Twins (44-47) were up 4-0 thanks to Ryan Jeffers' two-run homer. It was 5-0 two pitches later when Willi Castro launched a homer (374 feet) over the wall in right field.

6/23/25 Coulombe used as opener against Brewers. Almost four years ago to the date, Danny Coulombe took the mound for his first major league career start, throwing nearly two innings before making way for Griffin Jax, then a starter. It was his first and only career start until Sunday when Coulombe was tapped to start again, this time as an opener for David Festa, who had lasted less than four innings in two of his three previous starts. It's something that manager Rocco Baldelli said he had been thinking about for a while and discussing internally — and he said it was “probably something that we're going to see more of” — but it wasn't until Saturday afternoon that the Twins informed both Coulombe and Festa of the decision.

6/07/25 Twins’ bullpen sees one slip away to streaking Toronto. The Twins’ well-earned reputation for having a rock-solid bullpen took a hit on a Saturday afternoon when the late-inning pitching was as erratic as the weather at Target Field. Minnesota took a lead into the eighth, only to see Toronto score off relievers Griffin Jax and Johan Duran as the Blue Jays rallied for a 5-4 win, handing the Twins their third consecutive loss. On a day where the ...

2/12/25 Griffin Jax embraces the chaos of late-inning relief for the Twins, letting go of his starting goals. The breakthrough season Griffin Jax produced for the Minnesota Twins from the back of their bullpen last year wasn't enough by itself to convince the right-hander to fully accept his status as a relief pitcher and abandon his goal of being a starter. Candid conversation and a receptive perspective were the keys to bringing back Jax and him embracing his late-inning role for 2025. About halfway through the offseason, Jax recognized the importance of shaping a throwing regimen around a starter or relief track well in advance of spring training, so he initiated a call with his agent and the Twins to reach a decision once and for all.

1/26/25 Griffin Jax Made Ultimate Decision on Role w/Twins; Louie Varland Making the Move Too?. The Minnesota Twins roster hasn't seen many upgrades this offseason, but Griffin Jax and Louie Varland staying in the bullpen helps.

1/25/25 Griffin Jax to remain in the bullpen; could Louie Varland be next?. Griffin Jax's first stint as a major-league starter didn't quite yield the results that he was hoping for. During the end part of a lost 2021 season, Jax pitched in 18 games (14 starts) to a 6.37 earned-run average. After that season, the Twins decided to shift him to bullpen where he's become, over the past three seasons, one of the best relievers in Major League Baseball. “It was all driven by me,” Jax said.

11/22/24 Twins tender contracts to all arbitration-eligible players; reach terms with three. The Twins have tendered contracts or agreed to terms with all of their arbitration-eligible players — a group of 11 — that includes some of their top names ahead of Friday night's 7 p.m. deadline. Pitchers Griffin Jax, Jhoan Duran, Bailey Ober and Joe Ryan were tendered contracts for the 2025 season, as were catcher Ryan Jeffers, infielder Royce Lewis, outfielder Trevor Larnach and utilityman Willi Castro. The Twins will need to come to contract terms with those players later this offseason to avoid arbitration. They've already done so with a trio of relievers, agreeing with Brock Stewart, Michael Tonkin and Justin Topa. Alex Kirilloff was also eligible for arbitration, but the first baseman/outfielder

9/18/24 Twins drop another heartbreaker, walked off by Guardians. Griffin Jax and Cole Sands, two of the Twins' top three bullpen arms, watched from hundreds of feet away in center field as the team tried to piece together the final few innings on Wednesday night. It was clear, even before Wednesday's game started, that if the Twins were going to win, they would need some relievers to come through in different roles than they're used to handling. Varland and Duran got through their innings.

6/25/24 Fading Oakland A's at the midway point: What to expect in the second half. The concourses were buzzing Sunday, with Athletics fans eagerly putting on their giveaway jerseys commemorating a World Series championship 50 years ago against the Los Angeles Dodgers. A handful of the 1974 A's were saluted, then the current version struck out 16 times against Pablo Torres and Griffin Jax in a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

4/19/24 Jhoan Duran moves closer to return to Twins. The beginning of the Twins’ season hasn’t gone according to plan. But the bullpen, despite missing three critical arms to begin the season, has been a bright spot. Twins’ relievers had a collective 2.71 earned-run average entering Friday night, which was fifth in the major leagues. Griffin Jax and Brock Stewart have slid into the highest leverage roles, and Steven Okert has seen some ...

4/18/24 Playing well on the road, Tigers out to extend Twins' woes. The Twins — who are 1-4 at home — will look to snap a four-game losing streak, which includes a three-game sweep against the Baltimore Orioles. Minnesota was outscored 22-9 by the Orioles, including a 4-2 loss on a walk-off homer in Wednesday's series finale. Twins right-hander Griffin Jax said he and his teammates are trying to find their footing after a rough start. "There's a lot of tension and pressure that everybody's put on themselves," Jax said.
