7/30/25 Hitting well is the best revenge for Colorado's Tyler Freeman: Guardians takeaways. Tyler Freeman has enjoyed his return to Cleveland. In Colorado's 8-6 win over the Guardians on Monday night at Progressive Field, Freeman went 2 for 4 with three RBI out of the leadoff spot. In the ninth inning, when the Rockies rallied for four runs to overcome a 5-4 deficit, Freeman's single past first base gave them a 6-5 lead. In Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Guardians, Freeman went 2 for 4 with a double.

7/28/25 Rockies score 4 runs in 9th inning against Cade Smith to rally for 8-6 win over Guardians. Tyler Freeman singled home the go-ahead run off Cade Smith as Colorado scored four times in the ninth inning Monday night, rallying the Rockies to an 8-6 victory over the Cleveland Guardians after the first pitch was delayed 2 1/2 hours by rain. Smith (2-4) moved into the closer role earlier in the day when Emmanuel Clase was placed on non-disciplinary paid leave as part of a Major League Baseball investigation into sports betting.

7/22/25 Career Year Unfolding for Rockies Tyler Freeman With Surge in Production. The Colorado Rockies haven't had much to get excited about this season, but one thing is for sure Tyler Freeman swinging a bat is something to be giddy about. This season he is posting well-above his career averages and by far his best season. Freeman has been playing in the majors since his debut in August of 2022.

7/04/25 Guardians' Tyler Freeman trade to Rockies for Nolan Jones is aging terribly. The trade happened just before the season began, a one-for-one deal between the Cleveland Guardians and Colorado Rockies. Tyler Freeman was sent from Cleveland to Colorado, and Nolan Jones came back in return. The positionally versatile Freeman is raking and running for the Rockies.

6/30/25 MLB star and his manager ejected in quick succession. Umpire Ramon de Jesus appeared to have zero interest in hearing arguments on balls and strikes in a Sunday afternoon game between the Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers. In the top of the third in the game played in Wisconsin, Rockies batter Tyler Freeman passed on the chance to swing on an 0-2 pitch from Brewers starter Chad Patrick. The ball appeared to clip the lower part of the zone, but mostly stayed below the established rectangle and bounced out of catcher William Contreras' glove.

6/29/25 Rockies' Freeman, Schaeffer tossed after strike call. Colorado Rockies outfielder Tyler Freeman and interim manager Warren Schaeffer were ejected in the third inning of Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Freeman took a called third strike and appeared to say something to plate umpire Ramon De Jesus as he was leaving the batter's box. De Jesus promptly threw Freeman out of the game. Schaeffer came charging from the dugout and appeared to take something out of his mouth and throw it on the ground.

4/03/25 Cleveland Guardians Offseason Addition Finding Groove With Team. Five days before the first game of the season, the Cleveland Guardians' Opening Day roster looked set. Then the front office made a one-for-one swap with the Colorado Rockies, sending Tyler Freeman to Denver in exchange for former Cleveland draft pick Nolan Jones. Yes, Jones debuted with the Guardians in 2022, but it was still a change of scenery for the outfielder, and an adjustment period was inevitable.

3/25/25 Guardians Trade Proposal With Red Sox Lands Former Top Prospect. The Cleveland Guardians have made numerous trades throughout the offseason, most recently sending outfielder Tyler Freeman to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for fellow outfielder Nolan Jones. Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer has pitched a rather interesting trade idea for Cleveland, proposing that it sends pitcher Triston McKenzie to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for second baseman Vaughn Grissom.

3/24/25 Guardians Executive Discusses Options for Final Roster Spot. Many organizations around the sport have been active in transactions, and the Cleveland Guardians is one of them. One move they made was trading Tyler Freeman to the Colorado Rockies to reunite with Nolan Jones. The Guardians still have one more roster spot up for grabs. One internal option that meets all the criteria Antonetti mentions is MiLB Rule 5 draft pick Will Wilson.

3/23/25 Guardians Skipper Reacts To Cleveland's Recent Trade. Opening Day may be just a few days away, but that hasn't stopped the Cleveland Guardians from making some fairly significant roster moves and decisions. One of the most surprising moves was the Guardians trading UTL Tyler Freeman to the Colorado Rockies to re-acquire OF Nolan Jones, who started his career in Cleveland. Guardians skipper Stephen Vogt offered his reaction to the trade on Sunday and focused on both sides of making a transaction like this.

3/02/25 Guardians 2B Candidate Off To Strong Start During Spring Training. The Cleveland Guardians' second base battle would always be one of the most interesting parts of spring training. This remains true even with the team two weeks into Cactus League games. Tyler Freeman was used as an outfielder and a utility player during the 2025 season, but Stephen Vogt mentioned last Thursday that he has not been ruled out as a candidate to be the team's second baseman. "Tyler's played a lot of second base in his career, and we know he can do it very well," said Cleveland's skipper.

2/13/25 Why Former Top Guardians Prospect Could Still Turn Career Around. One player who knows this better than anyone is Cleveland Guardians' Tyler Freeman. Freeman was at one point viewed as a top prospect in the organization, and his contact skills and lack of swing and miss made him seem like a safe bet to at least be a league-average hitter at the big league level. In 560 at-bats across three seasons, Freeman has just a .223/.304/.329 slash line and a .633 OPS. Time is ticking for him to put it all together, but Freeman's story isn't entirely written yet.

1/24/25 Guardians' Former Top Prospect Hit With Rough Take. Tyler Freeman was once viewed as one of the top prospect in the Cleveland Guardians' system and was largely praised for his versatility and developing bat. The 25-year-old broke into the big leagues in 2022, managing just 19 hits over 86 plate appearances. The Guardians were hoping he would finally bust out in a full-time role in 2024, but he disappointed once again, slashing .209/.305/.321 with a mere seven homers and 32 RBI across 383 plate appearances. Yes, Freeman has been solid defensively and can play multiple positions, but the rise of some of Cleveland's young outfielders makes it difficult to justify keeping him in the lineup.

10/22/24 3 Most Disappointing Guardians Players In 2024. The Cleveland Guardians just completed an improbable 2024 MLB season, winning the AL Central division title and making it all the way to the ALCS. Tyler Freeman was once a top-100 prospect in baseball, ranking as high as 63rd by Baseball America heading into 2022. After a couple of rough seasons to begin his big-league career, there was some hope that Freeman would finally break out in 2024, but that did not happen. Freeman actually did play some solid outfield defense, especially considering that he initially came up as an infielder.

10/07/24 Guardians replace injured Tyler Freeman with Ángel Martínez ahead of Game 2 against Tigers. Guardians utilityman Tyler Freeman sustained an oblique injury during a simulated game Sunday and was dropped from the AL Division Series roster prior to Cleveland hosting Detroit in Game 2. Freeman was replaced by rookie outfielder Ángel Martínez, who played in 43 games this season for the AL Central champions but was left off the initial 26-man playoff roster. Manager Stephen Vogt said Freeman strained his left oblique during an at-bat against Ben Lively during the off-day practice. Both teams worked out at Progressive Field, which was closed to media members. Vogt also confirmed right-hander Alex Cobb will start Game 3 in Detroit.

8/29/24 Cleveland Guardians Urged To Make Tough Roster Decision With This Player. The Cleveland Guardians managed to salvage one game in their four-game set with the Kansas City Royals, but overall, the series was a disaster. The Guardians briefly lost their AL Central lead before regaining sole possession of first place on Wednesday, but now, Cleveland is clinging to a one-game edge over a streaking Royals club. As a result, the Guardians are being urged to make some changes, and one suggested alteration involves cutting the cord with outfielder Tyler Freeman. James Mastrucci of Away Back Gone is pressing Cleveland to give Freeman's innings to someone else, which essentially means sending the 25-year-old to the bench.

7/03/24 'Get the ball to Gimi': Guardians double relay mantra produces results. When a ball is hit over Tyler Freeman's head, there is only one thought racing through his mind. It is a mantra that has served Guardians outfielders well all season: “Get the ball to Gimi.” With Paul DeJong screaming around third base, Freeman fired to Andrés Giménez in short right field and Giménez's relay throw beat DeJong to the plate where a waiting Austin Hedges applied the tag for the final out of the inning.
