2/20/24 SF Giants' Jung Hoo Lee shows off 'quick hands' in first live batting practice of spring. Stepping into the batter's box Monday for the first time this spring, Jung Hoo Lee was prepared for the velocity of pitchers in the major leagues, considerably harder than those in Korea. “Sean Hjelle, tall guy,” Lee said Tuesday morning in Korean, with Justin Han interpreting. The 6-foot-11 (and three-quarters) righty made for a unique look to give Lee as the first live pitching he faced this camp. Hjelle fed him a steady diet of breaking balls, and Lee put a couple in play.

I imagine the shuttle back and forth from Sacramento to San Francisco wasn't particularly comfortable for the 6'11'' right-handed reliever. He was optioned to the River Cats and recalled back to the Giants five times (the max amount) over the 2023 season. Most of his appearances with the big league club came in April, throwing 12.1 innings over 9 games. He then pitched only 9.2 innings

8/01/23 Giants vs. Diamondbacks Gamethread. After a tense and disappointing extra-innings loss in the series opener, the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks return for the second game of their four-game series. Here's hoping for better results for the Giants. In chasing those better results, the Giants will have some new players. No one had “A.J. Pollock” on their bingo card as the only MLB player acquired at the deadline for San Francisco, but here we are. Pollock is in town, and should be activated for this game. Righty Sean Hjelle is also at Oracle Park, though that's presumably because scheduled starter Alex Cobb is sick and might not be able to play. Also Andrew Baggarly just reported that Logan Webb has cleats on, so...

6/22/23 Giants vs. Padres Gamethread. It's series finale time! After a bizarre win on Wednesday night , the San Francisco Giants now have a chance for a four-game sweep against the San Diego Padres . Might goodness would that be a fun thing. The Giants made a small roster move this morning, optioning pitcher Sean Hjelle (who was phenomenal on Wednesday), and recalling outfielder Bryce Johnson, since Mike Yastrzemski tweaked his hamstring last night. LaMonte Wade Jr., who was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with side tightness, is available off the bench today. San Francisco is giving the ball to lefty Alex Wood, who makes his 10th appearance of the season. He's 2-1 on the year, with a 4.11 ERA, a 4.25 FIP, and 34 strikeouts to 16
