7/16/25 Giants Ace Dominates, Star Reliever Struggles in All-Star Game. The annual MLB All-Star game took place on Tuesday night under the lights of Truist Park in Atlanta, and the San Francisco Giants were well represented in the Midsummer Classic. The club sent three of their elite pitchers to the showcase event; reliever Randy Rodriguez and both halves of their elite duo at the top of the starting rotation -- Robbie Ray and Logan Webb. Of the grouping, only Rodriguez and Webb saw any action as Ray was ruled unavailable after making a start in the Giants' last game before the All-Star break this past Sunday.

7/15/25 [NBC Sports Bay Area] - Watch Athletics slugger Brent Rooker crush three-run homer in MLB All-Star Game. The American League had struggled to score any runs through six innings of the 2025 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night, then Athletics designated hitter came to the plate. Rooker crushed a three-run, pinch-hit home run off San Francisco Giants reliever Randy Rodriguez in the top of the seventh inning to break up the National League’s shutout, driving a 2-0 four-seam fastball 407 feet over the left-center field wall at Truist Park to make it 6-3. Brent Rooker hits a three-run BOMB to put the AL on the board ?? — Athletics on NBCS (@NBCSAthletics) Rooker somehow was able to lay off two nasty sliders from Rodriguez, who entered the Midsummer Classic as far and away the best reliever in all of MLB. “I don’t know how I took those two sliders,” Rooker told FOX Sports’ Tom Verducci in the dugout after his homer. “They were really good pitches, I don’t know. I somehow shut it down on them, and then I was swinging no matter what on that 2-0 pitch hoping it was a fastball, and it happened to be a fastball.” Rooker told Verducci he felt “a little more comfortable” coming into , and it certainly showed at the plate. Brent Rooker caught up with Tom Verducci after his 3-run shot in the All-Star Game ?? — FOX Sports: MLB (@MLBONFOX) The homer comes one day after to advance in the Home Run Derby on Monday night when eventual champion Cal Raleigh hit a decisive first-round homer just .08 inches further than the A’s star. Cal Raleigh advanced to the second round of the Home Run Derby by winning the tiebreaker over Brent Rooker by less than an inch ?? — ESPN (@espn) But Rooker’s latest homer came when it counted in the All-Star Game, and he kept the AL from leaving Atlanta without scoring a run. The AL ended up rallying from their 6-0 deficit, scoring six unanswered runs before eventually tying the game in the top of the ninth inning and forcing the first-ever Home Run Derby tiebreaker in All-Star Game history after the NL failed to walk it off in the bottom of the ninth.

6/12/25 SF Giants see seven-game win streak snapped in ninth against Rockies. The Giants got a taste of their own medicine Thursday and missed a chance to head into Los Angeles tied for first place. Uncharacteristic wildness by reliever Randy Rodriguez and an error by third baseman Casey Schmitt in the ninth inning helped contribute to a three-run ninth by the Colorado Rockies in an 8-7 win over the Giants at Coors Field. Orlando Arcia lined a single to left to drive in the winning runs. Rodriguez gave up three runs in a 43-pitch ninth inning.

6/09/25 San Francisco Giants Ace Unlocks True Potential with Expanded Repertoire. The San Francisco Giants have been able to stay afloat during the 2025 MLB regular season with an underwhelming offensive performance because of how good their pitching staff has been. Randy Rodriguez is having a breakout campaign, putting together a historic May. Camilo Doval has reclaimed the closer's role and is looking like the All-Star version of himself from 2023. Tyler Rogers remains as reliable a workhorse as there is in baseball and deserves some All-Star recognition.

6/03/24 SF Giants walked off by Diamondbacks for 5th straight loss. As soon as the Giants' season seemed to have turned around, they hit their worst skid yet. With one swing off Randy Rodriguez, Pavin Smith sent the Giants to their fifth straight loss, 4-2, in walkoff fashion to begin their series against the Diamondbacks. After stranding the go-ahead run 90 feet away when a replay review went the other way, the Giants handed the bottom half of the inning over to their young flamethrowing reliever, who struck out Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to begin the inning but served up two straight hits to send the Giants back to their hotel in disappointment.

3/06/23 Community Prospect List No. 33. The start of the 2023 MLB season is right around the corner, which means we must be nearing the end of the 2023 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List. Coming in at No. 32 is right-handed pitcher Randy Rodriguez, who falls 10 spots from his placement at No. 22 in last year's CPL. Rodriguez entered last season with a lot of momentum after a dominant 2021 in Low-A San Jose resulted in being added to the 40-man roster as a Rule 5 protection. The righty, who turned 23 at the end of the season, started the year with High-A Eugene, where he had 3.38 ERA and a 4.10 FIP.
