7/07/25 Royals' $13 Million Ace Taking Crucial Step Toward Return To Kansas City. The Kansas City Royals have really been missing Cole Ragans of late. While the Royals' rotation has actually performed quite well in Ragans' absence (he's been out since early June with a rotator cuff strain), they've been missing his strikeout ability and occasional deep start. Kansas City's bullpen is taxed heading into the All-Star break, and the team could use a tone-setter. While it doesn't seem like Ragans will be back right after the break, he's at least taking a crucial step toward his return to the mound on Monday.

7/06/25 Royals' Cole Ragans receives 'positive MRI results'. The Kansas City Royals have been dying for any bit of good news in recent weeks. Royals starter Cole Ragans has been sidelined with a rotator cuff injury for over a month but will begin throwing on Monday. The plan is for Ragans to begin throwing again tomorrow. Ragans was one of the best pitchers in the American League in 2024, making the All-Star Game and finishing fourth in Cy Young voting.

7/06/25 Royals' Breakout Starter Predicted To Make AL All-Star Roster. The Kansas City Royals have been struggling this season. At 42-48, they are 14 games back of the first-place Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. While Cole Ragans has struggled, the team has received major contributions from left-hander Kris Bubic, who is having a breakout campaign with the Royals. When predicting the final All-Star rosters for each league, which will be revealed late on Sunday, Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report had Bubic as one of the pitchers that could make the cut for the AL.

7/03/25 Royals Predicted To Bring 6-Foot-8 Flamethrower To Kansas City. The Kansas City Royals have become something of a pitching factory over the last few seasons. Cole Ragans developed into an ace after arriving via trade. Seth Lugo and Michael Wacha were brilliant veteran free agent signings who found rejuvenation in KC. Who will that be, and when will the Royals call his name?

6/20/25 Will Royals Trade A Starting Pitcher? MLB Insiders Reveal Latest Intel. Every time we expect the 2025 Kansas City Royals to zig, they zag. From week to week, we can call this Royals team a disappointment or an overachiever. From the sounds of things, though, Kansas City appears to have some hesitation. On Friday, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic reported that the Royals are currently "reluctant" to trade a starting pitcher, which they did in November, in part because ace Cole Ragans' injury has left them a bit short-staffed.

6/13/25 Royals Predicted To Acquire 97-MPH Fireballer Thanks To Scouting Director. If there's one thing the Kansas City Royals excel at these days, it's developing pitchers. Cole Ragans, Seth Lugo, and Lucas Erceg all became stars once they arrived from other organizations, and the Royals have also completely rejuvenated some of their own draft picks, like Kris Bubic and Daniel Lynch IV.

6/12/25 Royals 'Panic Meter' On Yankees Blowout, Cole Ragans Injury, More. What's going on with the Kansas City Royals? This Royals team has had exactly three good weeks this season, going on a memorable 16-2 stretch against mostly inferior opponents. They're now 34-34 overall, 3-6 in June, and their Opening Day starter Cole Ragans is back on the injured list for a second time. There's a lot to potentially be concerned about, so perhaps it would be helpful to separate out some of those concerns. We're officially introducing the Royals Panic Meter (trademark pending) to rank the negative trends surrounding this Kansas City team. 6/05/25 Royals make crucial Cole Ragans roster move. The Kansas City Royals (32-20) are firmly in the American League Wild Card picture after two-plus months of baseball, and they have their stout pitching staff to thank for it. Despite scoring 16 runs in its previous two games versus the St. Louis Cardinals, KC's lineup has lumbered through the first third of the campaign. Until it does, however, manager Matt Quatraro will need as many competent arms as possible. The Royals activated All-Star Cole Ragans from the injured list, per MLB.com's Anne Rogers.

5/21/25 MLB Writer Praises Royals For Impressive Turnaround. The Kansas City Royals got off to a miserable 8-14 start this season, and while they've cooled down significantly in recent weeks, they still are 27-23 and find themselves in the third American League Wild Card spot. 5/20/25 Royals $51 Million All-Star Has Stepped Up With Two Pitchers Down. The Kansas City Royals have been dealt a few tough blows in recent weeks. 5/19/25 Royals Surprisingly Sign 32-Year-Old Journeyman After Three-Year MLB Hiatus. Starting pitching has been a major strength for the Kansas City Royals in 2025. The Royals' top two starters, Cole Ragans and Seth Lugo, both went on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. With a groin strain and a finger sprain, respectively, it's not as though either is in danger of missing the rest of the year. The Royals had already made one unusual pitching signing last week, nabbing 45-year-old Rich Hill to potentially join his 14th major league team.

To take their spots on the active roster, the team recalled a pair of lefties from Triple-A Omaha in Noah Cameron and Evan Sisk.
