6/25/25 Former Bruin Michael Toglia Erupts in Loss to Dodgers. Since being recalled to the majors after spending nearly a month in Triple-A Albuquerque, Colorado Rockies first baseman and former UCLA Bruins standout Michael Toglia has been getting right back on track following a three-hit, two-RBI appearance against the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rockies lost 9-7, but Toglia stood out on the plate, hitting an RBI double to open up the scoring in the first inning and coming back in the third for another RBI double. Colorado jumped out to an early lead but the Dodgers stormed back to steal a win in the first game of the series. Since returning to Colorado, Toglia is batting .303 with 10 hits, three home runs, eight RBIs and eight runs scored in eight games.

6/24/25 Dodgers score 6 runs in 4th, hold on to beat Rockies. The Dodgers scored six runs in the fourth inning, aided and abetted by the Colorado Rockies' shortcomings, but had to hold on until the end of a 9-7 victory on Tuesday night at Coors Field. The signature moment in this installment of a historically bad season for the Rockies came during that fourth inning. Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia made two errors in the inning and a third defensive blunder – a poor throw home that went as a fielder's choice rather than an error. Toglia's second error, though, managed to bring Rockies starter German Marquez to the ground.

Michael Toglia and the Colorado Rockies put on an electrifying show at Nationals Park on Tuesday night, overpowering the Washington Nationals with a 10-6 victory, thanks to a franchise record-tying seven home runs. 6/11/25 Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia is back in Albuquerque and looking for answers. Jun. 11—Michael Toglia knows the question. Still, it was asked Tuesday afternoon in the Albuquerque Isotopes clubhouse. Over, and over, and over. Multiple variations of the same thing: What does he think he can do to fix his swing and get him called back up to the Colorado Rockies? "I think you have to not focus on trying to get back," Toglia said. "I think you just come down, focus on your ...

5/31/25 Rockies demote first baseman Michael Toglia. Struggling Colorado Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Saturday’s game against the New York Mets. Toglia appeared to establish himself as the Rockies’ first baseman last year, when he hit .233 with 21 homers following his June recall from Triple-A. He produced his first multi-homer game July 14, when he went deep three times against the Mets at Citi Field. Interim Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said he wants Toglia to “go down and control the strike zone better.”

5/27/25 Former Bruin Falls Below Mendoza Line With Recent Struggles. Former UCLA Bruin turned first baseman for the Colorado Rockies, Michael Toglia, hasn't been too hot at the plate as of late. Much like the entire Rockies organization, Toglia's struggles haven't favored the franchise in winning ways, as the Rockies are on pace to be the worst team in the history of Major League Baseball. Following the former Bruin's 0-4 performance on Memorial Day against the Chicago Cubs, which resulted in another Colorado loss, Toglia's overall batting average has dipped below .200, which no major league player wants attached to their name.

5/21/25 With 9-5 loss to Phillies, Rockies clinch MLB's worst modern record through 50 games — a game early. It was toxic, the Rockies right fielder figured, back in his days with the Los Angeles Angels. Many of his fellow Rockies, through wilting weeks around Coors Field, have similarly turned to online ghosts. First baseman Michael Toglia hasn't posted since February. Neither has veteran Ryan McMahon.

5/12/25 Former Bruin Looking to Improve Individual Numbers Against Rangers. Former UCLA Bruin and current first baseman for the Colorado Rockies, Michael Toglia, has been struggling at the plate thus far this season. Unfortunately, though, for several former Bruins who play for the Rockies, that has been the franchise's 411 to start the 2025 MLB campaign. Ending their home stand with a 9-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Mother's Day, the Rockies put an end to their eight-game losing streak. The time at home wasn't favorable for the franchise as a whole, but Toglia made sure he came through in moments that his teammates needed him to.

4/13/25 King throws 1st complete game as Padres shut out Rockies in 3rd straight game, 6-0. King retired his first 13 batters before Michael Toglia singled with one out in the fifth. It was the 34th time that a team had shut out its opponent for an entire series of three-plus games since 1901, and the first since Cleveland did it against Kansas City in August 2017.

4/09/25 Rockies' Michael Toglia on early-season slump: “I don't let it bother me”. Michael Toglia was blunt. “Our offense has been pretty bad, I'm not going to lie,” the first baseman said Wednesday before the Rockies hosted the Brewers at Coors Field. Toglia, who hit eighth Wednesday night, counts himself among “those guys” who have struggled during Colorado's 2-8 start in which the Rockies have scored just 31 runs, tied for the second fewest through 10 games in franchise history. Toglia entered the game slashing .154/.214/.205, with zero home runs and zero RBIs.

3/01/25 Former Bruin Raking For Colorado Rockies Ahead of 2025 Season. The Colorado Rockies don't look to have the best outlook heading into the 2025 MLB season. Competing in arguably the hardest division in baseball, the Rockies will need everything to go right. Lucky for them this spring, former UCLA Bruin Michael Toglia could be the hottest hitter in baseball right now. In 13 at-bats so far this Spring Training, Toglia has been a menace at the plate.

Rockies 9, Diamondbacks 3 Saturday at Salt River Fields On the mound: Right-hander Gabriel Hughes, who missed last season as he recovered from Tommy John surgery, pitched two scoreless, hitless innings, allowing one walk. 1/28/25 Colorado Rockies 1B Michael Toglia Showed Signs of Being Elite Late in 2024. Michael Toglia finally seems to have a firm grasp on the Colorado Rockies' starting first base gig, thanks in large part to his impressive showing down the stretch last year. According to Fantrax's Kirk Snyder, Toglia put up a 16.4% barrel percentage after the All-Star break in 2024. Only five qualified players had better marks during that same stretch: Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Schwarber, Juan Soto and Jorge Soler. Considering Judge and Ohtani won MVP, Soto signed the most expensive contract in MLB history and Schwarber broke the single-season record for leadoff home runs, that is some pretty solid company to join.

12/13/24 Michael Toglia, 2025 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper.

Hey, what’s up Bud Black, why you dressed as a Smurf with a blue face? Would you prefer I call you Blue Black? Bud Blue? Haha, I’m just joking, I know you’re now and always Bud Black, one of the best managers in baseball, and not someone I ever need to worry about playing someone with promise. Please, blog, may I have some more?
