7/31/25 De George: In keeping Andrew Painter and Justin Crawford, Phillies need to find them roles. The transaction ledger at the end of business on July 31 will show the Philadelphia Phillies having added two players who will play a role in their pursuit of the 2025 World Series. It constitutes a job done by Dave Dombrowski and his team, identifying the few holes in a front-running roster and dutifully plugging them. The Triple-A duo is part of the elite collection of assets the Phillies counted on at this deadline to augment a 61-47 roster.

7/30/25 Philadelphia Phillies Top Prospect Hits Personal Milestone as Trade Rumors Swirl. As trade rumors swirl, Philadelphia Phillies top prospect Andrew Painter hit an important milestone in his return from Tommy John surgery on Wednesday. Painter, who is the No. 8 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, topped the 100 pitch mark for the first time in his professional career. Currently playing with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, he went 6.1 innings, giving up seven hits and two walks. Sixty-five of his 103 pitches were for strikes.

7/25/25 Phillies news roundup: Top prospect shines again for IronPigs; no reunion with Gregory Soto. In his first start after the All-Star break, Phillies top prospect Andrew Painter dazzled on Thursday night for Triple-A Lehigh Valley to earn his first win in more than month.Painter, pitching on 10 days rest, allowed two runs on one hit –  a home run to rehabbing Oriole Ryan Mountcastle – in six innings against the Norfolk Tides. Painter had struggled somewhat in his past three starts leading up to the break, allowing at least three earned runs without going past the sixth inning in any of the outings, but the time off during the break appeared to serve him well as he continues his comeback from Tommy John surgery that cost him all of 2023 and 2024. In total this season, between Single-A Clearwater and Lehigh Valley, Painter is 3-5 with a 4.68 ERA and has 75 strikeouts in 73 innings.

7/09/25 Phillies prospect Andrew Painter trying to get himself right against lefties. Lehigh Valley IronPigs starting pitcher Andrew Painter, the Phillies' top-ranked prospect, locked into a showdown with Spencer Jones, the Yankees' No. 2 prospect, in the fourth inning of a Triple-A game earlier this month at Coca-Cola Park. Painter, making his 14th start since missing two seasons because of Tommy John surgery, blew a 97-mph fastball by Jones to get into a favorable 1-2 count. But Jones dug in. He took a pair of balls before fouling two more off. He then drove the third full-count offering, another 97-mph fastball, off the wall in right-center field for a double. “It was a good battle,” Painter said. “[Jones] fouled off a lot of good pitches. He put a great swing on that 3-2.

7/04/25 Philadelphia Phillies Superstar Prospect Could Be Rotation Option After All-Star Break. According to MiLB.com, Philadelphia Phillies top prospect Andrew Painter could be an option for the team's rotation after the All-Star break. The Phillies have a revolving fifth spot in the rotation with Aaron Nola on the injured list, and they've used Mick Abel, who they recently sent down to Triple-A. Taijuan Walker will come off the injured list to get a chance next week, but after the break, Painter could get a shot at his debut.

6/26/25 Top Phillies Prospect Falls Just Short of Top Five Overall Ranking. The Philadelphia Phillies are building a World Series caliber roster full of talented veterans, but they have some exciting youngsters waiting in the wings as well. CBS Sports' R.J. Anderson recently released ranking of the Top 25 prospects in baseball and there was some positive movement for a couple of Phillies players. Star pitcher Andrew Painter remains the top rated prospect in Philadelphia, but he rose to No. 6 after being at No. 14 before the season. Shortstop Aidan Miller made an even bigger jump from No. 29 to No. 17, joining Painter in the Top 20.

6/23/25 Phillies Notebook: Pitching prospect Andrew Painter on a slow rehab road. The slow pace of Andrew Painter's track to the major leagues continues, as Saturday night he went five innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, allowing two hits and two runs, semi-undone by four walks against five strikeouts. Nothing odd about that for a guy coming off Tommy John surgery except it was Painter's 12th game of a season that he hasn't officially begun. Of course, the 6-foot-7 top prospect is anything but your average minor league hopeful. “I've seen his BPs (batting practice sessions) and things like that,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said.

6/15/25 Ranking Most Likely Phillies Trade Deadline Targets Listed by Former MLB Executive. The Philadelphia Phillies are going to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline to give themselves the best possible change of winning the World Series championship that has eluded this star-studded group during this window. The former MLB executive put together a list of possible targets Philadelphia might pursue before the July 31 deadline, and below, I have ranked that list in the order I believe to be the most likely. Probably much more than the Phillies are willing to give up. Dave Dombrowski has already said their top two prospects of Andrew Painter and Aidan Miller are untouchable, and Justin Crawford could also find himself in that category if he's called up at some point this summer.
