Kenny McIntosh has seemingly been on the Seattle Seahawks' 53-man roster bubble the entire offseason, but throughout the preseason, he's made a very strong case to be the team's third running back. McIntosh, a 2023 seventh-round pick out of Georgia, capped the preseason off in style, taking his lone carry of the game 56 yards to the house in Seattle's 37-33 win over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. After scoring the first touchdown of his young career, McIntosh finished the game with a strong sense of pride. “It meant everything, to go out there and showcase my talent, my ability," McIntosh said after the game. The Seahawks have not taken a running back in two of the last 12 drafts of the Pete Carroll/John Schneider regime. Throw in 2023 seventh-rounder Kenny McIntosh — who appears poised to take over the third running back role after DeeJay Dallas signed with Arizona — and the Seahawks have a top three of backs all taken in the drafts of the last two seasons, and all on rookie contracts lasting through at least the 2025 season. The Seahawks on Tuesday waived nose tackle Austin Faoliu off their 53-man roster and released receiver Tyjon Lindsey off the practice squad. The move with Faoliu came a day after he had been activated to the 53 after he had recently returned to practice after beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list due to a knee injury suffered during the offseason program. Seattle could be hoping to bring back Faoliu to the practice squad if he clears waivers, and could be positioning to use the spot on the 53-man roster for another purpose. The Seahawks surely hoped to see more of their 10-man rookie class in the team's second preseason game against Dallas on Saturday night than they did. The five who didn't play due to injury were cornerback Devon Witherspoon (hamstring), running back Kenny McIntosh (knee), nose tackle Cameron Young (quad), center Olu Oluwatimi (elbow) and defensive lineman Mike Morris (shoulder). Oluwatimi played in the preseason opener against Minnesota and was on the field for 31 snaps, acquitting himself well enough to raise at least some conjecture that he could still make a run at Evan Brown for the starting-center job.
