7/06/25 Rangers fall to Padres as Texas strengthens case as MLB's worst comeback team. We apologize for the repetition in advance, but, you might've read this one before. The Texas Rangers lost 4-1 against the San Diego Padres Sunday night at Petco Park and, in alignment with an all-too familiar and troublesome trend, failed to rally when faced with a deficit. Rangers right-handed starter Jack Leiter — who lasted just 3 2/3 innings because of his inability to put batters away with two strikes — and left-handed reliever Jacob Latz each allowed two runs.

6/29/25 Luis Castillo, Mariners chase series win vs. Rangers. Two pitchers looking to return to their winning ways will square off when the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners clash on Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of the three-game series in Arlington, Texas. Seattle will send Luis Castillo (4-5, 3.69 ERA) to the mound on Sunday against fellow right-hander Jack Leiter (4-5, 4.55) of Texas. Marcus Semien's bases-loaded single to right field in the 10th inning scored Alejandro Osuna with the winning run on Saturday as Rangers evened the series with a 3-2 win.

6/22/25 Rangers' Jack Leiter still hunting for answers as worrisome trend continues in Pittsburgh. Surrounded by droves of appropriate imagery, Jack Leiter continued his season-long hunt for the metaphorical buried treasure that could best unlock his abilities on the mound. “It's kind of just the elusive strikeout pitch,” the Texas Rangers' rookie right-handed pitcher said Sunday. On Sunday, in an 8-3 series finale loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park, Leiter continued a worrisome trend and swung too far in either direction in leverage counts and failed to capitalize on advantages that he'd built early in at bats. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed three runs on five hits, two walks and two strikeouts but lasted just four innings after his pitch count climbed too high on a hot Western Pennsylvania day.

6/18/25 Inconsistency of Rangers Star Rookie Holding Him Back From Becoming Truly Elite. When the Texas Rangers drafted Vanderbilt's right-handed star Jack Leiter second overall in the 2021 MLB draft, they did so with the assumption that he would become the team's new ace of the future. Leiter was viewed as one of the best college arms in recent memory at the time, and he boasted some of the best pure stuff out of any righty that's ever come through the storied Commodores program. After three seasons in the minors, the Rangers next big star made his MLB debut in April of the 2024 campaign. Texas gave him some more chances throughout the year, but he finished with an 8.83 ERA in nine appearances and six starts last season.

6/13/25 Texas Rangers Starting Pitcher Inching Closer to Injury Rehab Assignment. The Texas Rangers have, for the most part, avoided injury in their starting rotation, which is one of the best in baseball. Jack Leiter missed time with a blister. Kumar Rocker missed time with a right shoulder impingement. Nathan Eovaldi is on the IL now with right posterior elbow inflammation.

6/11/25 A game of inches: 3 key moments where small details sunk Texas Rangers in loss to Twins. When a team pulverizes the baseball, as the Texas Rangers did in their double-digit run outburst Tuesday, the margins of error and fortune are widened by force. When a team doesn't, as the Rangers didn't in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field, the leeway for unlucky plays becomes slim to none. “That is a frustrating part of baseball,” Rangers starter Jack Leiter said. Leiter, who allowed four runs in four innings, was a victim of such happenstance.

6/11/25 Rangers try to extend road win streak in matchup with the Twins. 6/08/25 Texas Rangers Should Trade This Pitcher First if They're Trade Deadline Sellers. The Texas Rangers' fate as buyers or sellers at the July 31 trade deadline is not yet sealed. The Rangers' entire starting rotation has been outstanding, with several pitchers having career years. Jacob deGrom is playing his best baseball in a Texas uniform with a 2.34 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Jack Leiter has emerged as one of the better young pitchers in the American League with a 3.48 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.

6/06/25 Junior Caminero, Rays Pull Off Wild Walk-Off Win, Beat Rangers 4-3 For Sweep. The Tampa Bay Rays third baseman — who's been on a major heater the past few weeks — has been the hero quite often lately, and all the stars aligned in the season finale with the Texas Rangers at Steinbrenner Field. Another sellout crowd showed up to grab a Caminero bobblehead doll, and then he took care of the rest in a most unlikely 4-3 win. Caminero hit a second-inning home run, his 15th of the year and sixth in the past week, but that was all the Rays could muster for eight innings against Texas start Jack Leiter and the Rangers bullpen.

6/05/25 Rapidly Improving Rangers Pitching Prospect Wins Coveted Monthly Award. The Texas Rangers have an impressive farm system even without Jack Leiter having prospect eligibility anymore. Sebastian Walcott is a promising player, Kumar Rocker has the ceiling to be a high-level starter with time, Malcolm Moore could pan out to be a fun player and many more could become Major League contributors. The most intriguing part of their minor league system, though, is the depth it possesses.

6/05/25 Rays take on the Rangers on home winning streak. Texas Rangers (29-33, third in the AL West) vs. Tampa Bay Rays (32-29, second in the AL East) Tampa, Florida; Thursday, 7:35 p.m. EDT PITCHING PROBABLES: Rangers: Jack Leiter (4-2, 3.66 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 36 strikeouts); Rays: Ryan Pepiot (3-5, 3.21 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 56 strikeouts) BETMGM SPORTSBOOK LINE: Rays -146, Rangers +122; over/under is 9 runs BOTTOM LINE: The Tampa Bay Rays will try to keep a three-game home win streak going when they face the Texas Rangers. Tampa Bay is 20-19 at home and 32-29 overall. The Rays have gone 13-5 in games when they did not give up a home run. Texas is 9-20 in road games and 29-33 overall. 6/03/25 What's the story behind several Texas Rangers pitchers' new gloves?. It appears the Rangers' veteran rotation has learned a thing or two from rookie Jack Leiter, at least when it comes to gloves. Both Tyler Mahle and, more recently, Jacob deGrom have turned to “no-back” gloves, like the one Leiter has been using since late last summer. The idea behind the gloves is that they feature no ability for a hitter to see inside the webbing and potentially pick up a tell on a pitcher's grip. Be the smartest Rangers fan.

6/02/25 Rangers Rookie Standout Starter No Longer 'Up-Down Guy'. There have been plenty of reasons why rookie Jack Leiter has excelled for the Texas Rangers this season; confidence, better mechanics and expanded arsenal. Instead of shuffling between the Rangers and Triple-A Round Rock as Leiter did last season, he broke spring training with the MLB club and has made nine starts in a Texas uniform. “I definitely think there's a comfortability aspect,” Leiter said, according to MLB.com. Make no mistake, the 25-year-old right-hander has earned his spot in the Rangers rotation.

5/30/25 Jack Leiter has entrenched himself in Texas Rangers rotation after another strong outing. Jack Leiter's first four major league starts granted him just four total days in the Texas Rangers' clubhouse last season. Be the smartest Rangers fan. Leiter didn't get to spend extended time in the Rangers' locker room until September, after the season had largely been classified a bust, when he largely pitched out of Texas' bullpen. Leiter pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings vs. the St. Louis Cardinals in the Rangers' 11-1 win Friday night at Globe Life Field.

5/24/25 With confidence growing, White Sox take on Rangers. The Chicago White Sox are showing signs of life despite sitting in the cellar of the American League Central and will look to build momentum when they host the slumping Texas Rangers on Saturday afternoon in the middle game of a three-game set. The contest will be a clash of right-handers as the Rangers send rookie Jack Leiter (3-2, 4.25 ERA) to the mound against Jonathan Cannon (2-5, 3.76). The White Sox won the series opener 4-1 on Friday as Sean Burke and three relievers limited Texas to three hits and Luis Robert Jr. drove in a run, stole a base and scored.

5/24/25 Rangers look to stop skid in game against the White Sox. Texas Rangers (25-27, fourth in the AL West) vs. Chicago White Sox (16-35, fifth in the AL Central) Chicago; Saturday, 4:10 p.m. EDT PITCHING PROBABLES: Rangers: Jack Leiter (3-2, 4.25 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 27 strikeouts); White Sox: Jonathan Cannon (2-5, 3.76 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 42 strikeouts) BETMGM SPORTSBOOK LINE: Rangers -178, White Sox +147; over/under is 8 runs BOTTOM LINE: The Texas Rangers are looking to end their five-game slide with a victory against the Chicago White Sox. 5/22/25 Texas Rangers 'One of the More Intriguing Young Arms' Prospect Has Surprised Thus Far. Coming into the 2025 MLB regular season, the Texas Rangers had one of the most impressive stable of prospects in the game. A lot of those top prospects are on the mound, with four of their top six players being pitchers at MLB Pipeline. There was another, Jack Leiter, but he has surpassed prospect status this year. Kumar Rocker is going to eventually do the same in 2025, graduating because of their time spent in the Major Leagues and innings pitched.
