7/20/25 Tigers Boss Scott Harris Can Fix Huge Offseason Mistake at Trade Deadline. The Detroit Tigers entered the All-Star break with the best record in baseball, though they did it on a rough note with four straight losses for the first time all season. Detroit has come out of the break to lose two more, bringing the losing streak to six games and leaving fans wondering what is going on as things start to spiral. At the upcoming trade deadline at the end of this month, many have linked the Tigers to deals to upgrade the bullpen. With everyone now healthy outside of rookie Jackson Jobe, a top-four in the starting rotation of Tarik Skubal, Jack Flaherty, Reese Olson and Casey Mize is solid, however that fifth slot has been a problem for months now.

On Wednesday, Tigers starter Jack Flaherty was given an important distinction by writer Jason Beck of MLB.com heading into MLB's second half, highlighting the importance of a strong second half from the 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Champion.

6/14/25 High-Upside Tigers Target Now No Longer Expected To Get Traded This Season. The Detroit Tigers are expected to be aggressive at the MLB trade deadline as one of the best teams in baseball this year, but their priorities might have shifted. The starting rotation may be as needy as the bullpen after it was announced that their young star Jackson Jobe is undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery. While the rotation was a strength to start the season, they have picked up enough injuries where the front office might look to address it prior to the July 31 deadline.

5/29/25 Tigers plan to call up rookie pitcher before Kansas City series. DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers plan to select the contract of right-handed reliever Dylan Smith before Friday's game in Kansas City. Smith, who made his Triple-A debut just a few days ago, would be making his MLB debut if he gets into a game. The corresponding move has not yet been announced. Right-hander Jackson Jobe was absent from the Tigers' clubhouse on Wednesday after a start in which his velocity was notably diminished . Jobe's next scheduled start isn't until June 3, so the Tigers could opt to use an extra bullpen arm while they sort out their rotation plans. 5/28/25 Niyo: Tigers can afford to let Jackson Jobe work through his growing pains. The Tigers' top prospect was idling in Double-A Erie late last spring, nursing a hamstring injury that cost the former No. 3 overall pick more than a month of minor-league runway on his way to Detroit. But that streak ended with his previous outing — a 3-1 loss to Cleveland last Friday night — and it looked like Jobe might take his second straight loss Wednesday as the young right-hander faced a difficult matchup in the San Francisco Giants.
