6/16/25 | Willowbrook's Chris Roycroft, college teammate of Princeton's Jeff Wedekind, chases MLB dream with Cardinals. Willowbrook graduate Chris Roycroft pitched to Princeton's Jett Wedekind at Aurora University in 2018 and 2019, both named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference All-Conference for the Spartans. Five years later, Roycroft broke in with the St. Louis Cardinals. The road from Division III school Aurora to the big leagues was not an easy one, taking Roycroft on a path pitching two seasons for the Joliet Slammers of the independent Frontier League to Busch Stadium. 6/11/25 | Reliever Chris Roycroft's road to success remains bumpy: Cardinals Extra. Chris Roycroft is a little enigmatic. Against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, his four-seam fastball averaged 95.9 mph, topping out at 96.5 mph. His sinker had even more heat, averaging 95.2 mph and topping out at 97.3 mph. The ingredients are lacking in quantity, but they're certainly full of flavor. In his first appearance since getting called up from Class AAA Memphis on Monday, Roycroft allowed three hits and two earned runs in the top of the ninth against the Blue Jays. The eventual deciding run in a 10-9 loss scored on a wild pitch from Roycroft. Source: https://www.stltoday.com/sports/professional/mlb/c... |
3/26/25 | Advice for the four Cardinals on their first opening day in St. Louis: Cherish it. “I worked this hard to get here, and the work’s not gonna stop. Just keep on doing what I’ve been doing and enjoy every little moment there is ...” said pitcher Chris Roycroft. Source: https://sports.yahoo.com/article/advice-four-cardi... |
3/15/25 | Cardinals snag 9-5 win over Blue Jays in spring training. It seemed like an unusual request for his manager to make when reliever Chris Roycroft came into the game on Sunday, but Oli Marmol had some logic behind it. “I was sitting there next to Jon Jay and I was like, 'Man I hope he walks this first guy',” Marmol said. Roycroft, battling for a spot in the Cardinals' bullpen, hasn't had to pitch with many runners on base this spring, allowing only three hits and one walk in his five scoreless innings before coming in against the Blue Jays in the eighth inning. 7/29/24 | Cardinals defense, reliever Chris Roycroft yield 3-run 7th inning in a 6-3 loss to Rangers. Speaking with reporters before Monday's game, Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said he wouldn't close the door on potentially adding to club's relief corps before Tuesday's MLB trading deadline. A few hours later, the Cardinals bullpen gave up critical runs in the last third of the game against the Texas Rangers. A pair of Cardinals misplays in the field contributed to those runs, and a one-run deficit quickly turned into an uphill battle. Ultimately, a three-run seventh inning provided breathing room for the Rangers and put the Cardinals on their way to their fourth loss in their past five games, 6-3 in front of an announced crowd of 34,281 in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium. 6/19/24 | Cardinals' Chris Roycroft walks off frustrated by 10th-inning breaks as Marlins even series. Cardinals rookie relief pitcher Chris Roycroft left the door open by not covering first base in the 10h inning. The Miami Marlins walked through that door and earned a walk-off win to even their series. Marlins pinch hitter Vidal Brujan came off the bench and lined a 96.8-mph fastball from Roycroft into right field for an RBI single and handed the Cardinals a 9-8 extra-inning loss in the second game of the three-game series at loanDepot Park on Tuesday night. The Marlins scored two runs to steal the win in the 10th inning after a Dylan Carlson sacrifice fly gave the Cardinals (36-36) a one-run edge.
