Willowbrook graduate Chris Roycroft pitched to Princeton's Jett Wedekind at Aurora University in 2018 and 2019, both named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference All-Conference for the Spartans. Five years later, Roycroft broke in with the St. Louis Cardinals. Against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, his four-seam fastball averaged 95.9 mph, topping out at 96.5 mph. His sinker had even more heat, averaging 95.2 mph and topping out at 97.3 mph. The ingredients are lacking in quantity, but they're certainly full of flavor. The Miami Marlins walked through that door and earned a walk-off win to even their series. Marlins pinch hitter Vidal Brujan came off the bench and lined a 96.8-mph fastball from Roycroft into right field for an RBI single and handed the Cardinals a 9-8 extra-inning loss in the second game of the three-game series at loanDepot Park on Tuesday night.
