6/13/25 | Eric Orze Gearing Up For New York Mets Reunion Following Trade to Tampa Bay Rays. Eric Orze only took the mound twice for the New York Mets, but for nearly five years, that organization was his home. The Mets selected Orze in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft, then proceeded to develop the right-hander in their own farm system. Orze made his big league debut in July 2024, finally making it to Queens, but he got dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays four months later. Rays Pitcher Eric Orze Fights Through Two Cancer Diagnoses to Reach Major Leagues Author Jim Mayhew February 27th 12:54 PM In July 2024, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Eric Orze stepped onto the mound after beating not one, but two different cancers. When he was 20, doctors removed his testicular cancer. Shortly after, he faced another fight with melanoma. After getting better, the New York Mets grabbed Orze in the 2020 MLB Draft's fifth round. The Rays got him through a November 2024 trade. “It sounds crazy and it sounds bizarre, but cancer was a blessing in disguise for sure. If I hadn't gone through that … I had Draft aspirations, but I don't think anything would have come of it,” said Orze to MLB.com Source: https://995qyk.com/2025/02/27/rays-pitcher-eric-or... |
11/20/24 | METS SIGN JOSE SIRI & ACCIDENTLY BLOW A CHANCE TO SIGN JUAN SOTO TOO. Steve Cohen and the New York Mets made a move Tuesday that will certainly raise eyebrows: José Siri, the flashy yet offensively inconsistent outfielder from the Tampa Bay Rays, is headed to Queens in exchange for reliever Eric Orze. While Siri is a defensive dynamo—leading all center fielders in defensive runs saved last season—his bat left a lot to be desired, hitting just .187 with 18 home runs and 14 stolen bases. 7/08/24 | Mets split series with Pirates after bullpen combusts in 8-2 loss in Pittsburgh. Eric Orze made for a great story this weekend when the Mets called up the two-time cancer survivor to make his big league debut in Pittsburgh. Orze (0-1) was charged with the loss Monday afternoon in his first Major League appearance, giving up three earned runs in a 7-2 defeat by the Pirates at PNC Park.
