10/12/24 | Philadelphia Phillies Bullpen Star Will Likely Look for a New Home in Free Agency. The Philadelphia Phillies made moves at the trade deadline over the summer with the goal of strengthening an already contending team and in turn make a very deep postseason run. The team fell severly short of that goal with a loss to the New York Mets in four games in the NLDS, and as a result some unpleasant decisions have to be made as to whether or not to spend to capital to bring back players that are hitting free agency from a Phillies team that ultimately underachieved. One of the players is bullpen fireball hurler Carlos Estévez. Philadelphia sent two prospects in George Klassen and Samuel Aldegheri to the Los Angeles Angels in order to bring in Estévez to strengthen the bullpen, a group that so often is the difference between winning and losing in October. 9/01/24 | Philadelphia Phillies Pitching Prospect Needs Bounce-Back Campaign. The Philadelphia Phillies are hoping for some more home-grown starting pitching to come up the pipeline in the next couple of years. The trade made in July that sent two prospects — pitchers George Klassen and Samuel Aldegheri — for reliever Carlos Estévez makes that need more evident. Aldegheri was recently called up by his new team, the Los Angeles Angels, and just made his Major League debut. One of those pitchers the Phillies are counting on one day is Mick Abel, a right-hander who is ranked the organization's No. 6 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. 8/30/24 | Angels' Samuel Aldegheri, 1st Italian born and raised pitcher to reach majors, has rough debut. It was fitting that Samuel Aldegheri came out to the theme song from “Rocky III” when he made his major league debut for the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night against the Seattle Mariners. The 22-year-old left hander, who became the first Italian born and raised player to pitch in the big leagues, warmed up while Survivor's “Eye of the Tiger” played in the background. Aldegheri was hoping he would be as successful as Rocky “The Italian Stallion” Balboa. After allowing five unearned runs in the first, Aldegheri got through five innings.
