7/19/25 Late-game speed allows Rays to rally past Orioles. The Tampa Bay Rays used their speed to steal a 4-3 win from the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The Rays came from behind with a three-run eighth inning that began with Kim Ha-Seong leading off with a single and a stolen base. Then, with one out, Chandler Simpson extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single up the middle to bring home Ha-Seong and tie the game 2-2. The rookie center fielder stole his 27th base and went to third on a wild pitch as Jose Caballero walked.

7/10/25 Right-Hander Bryan Baker Crumbles in Rays Debut in 4-3 Loss to Red Sox. For a while on Thursday night, it looked like everything was going right for the Tampa Bay Rays in their series opener against the Boston Red Sox. Center fielder Chandler Simpson hit an infield single to set the franchise record for the longest hitting streak by a rookie at 14 games. Later, shortstop Ha-Seong Kim launched a two-run blast over the Green Monster in the fourth inning to give him his first home run in a Rays jersey and his team a 2-1 lead. Junior Caminero followed suit in the sixth, crushing a solo shot to give him his 23rd home run of the season and his second in as many games.

7/09/25 Rays' Chandler Simpson Ties Franchise Rookie Record With 13-Game Hitting Streak. Tampa Bay Rays rookie Chandler Simpson isn't just dominating on the base paths; he's starting to take over the batter's box, too. In Tampa Bay's 7-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night, Simpson singled twice to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 13 games, which ties with Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. for the third-longest active streak in the majors behind Washington Nationals right fielder Daylen Lile (14 games) and New York Yankees left fielder Cody Bellinger (14).

7/01/25 Speedy Rays' Jose Caballero, Chandler Simpson Make Franchise History. The Tampa Bay Rays have made a habit of compiling historical accomplishments before the All-Star break, and they've added another one to the list. Rays shortstop/outfielder José Caballero, MLB's leader in stolen bases, and Chandler Simpson, the rookie leader in stolen bases, are the first pair of Rays players to reach 20 stolen bases before July since Carl Crawford (28 stolen bases) and B.J. Upton (24) in 2010.

6/09/25 Tampa Bay Rays Prospect Achieves Career First at Triple-A as Strong 2025 Continues. If Chandler Simpson is smarting after the Tampa Bay Rays sent him to Triple-A Durham, he isn't showing it. Simpson, 24, went 5-for-5 Sunday as the Durham Bulls routed the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Miami Marlins affiliate) 10-2. It was his first career 5-for-5 game. The Rays surprisingly sent Simpson to Durham on May 30, despite a strong start to his MLB career there.

6/01/25 Hitter Profiles: Need for Speed. Chandler Simpson was just sent down by the Tampa Bay Rays in favor of Jake Mangum much to the chagrin of fantasy managers. He was hitting .285 with 17 runs and 19 steals across 34 games. Since his call-up on April 19th, he had more steals than anyone else in professional baseball and more than seven entire teams. But despite the blazing speed and .285 average, Simpson posted just an 85 wRC+, meaning he was performing 15% below league average as a hitter. His OBP hovered around league norms, his slug was nonexistent and fielding was not as good as hoped. This is the dilemma: elite speed plays in fantasy, often disproportionately. Yet in real life, if you can’t hit enough to justify a lineup spot, that speed becomes a tool without a stage. Speed can be scarce especially for those in rotisserie formats. Over the past few seasons, stolen bases have surged across MLB, but true category dominant threats remain rare.

6/01/25 Chandler Simpson decision part of Rays’ focus on winning more now. TAMPA — Rays officials — just like fans and media — were impressed with how well Chandler Simpson played and how his speed impacted games during his first six weeks in the majors, especially given his limited Triple-A experience. But they want him to be better — specifically in getting on base more (.315 on-base percentage) and playing better defense in the outfield. So in deciding fellow ...

5/31/25 Amid 'tough' roster move, Rays face Astros again. In a nod to their outfield depth -- amid their series against the Houston Astros -- the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday optioned rookie speedster Chandler Simpson to Triple-A Durham to make room for the returning Jake Mangum. Over the 35 games since his big league debut on April 19, Simpson validated his reputation as a runner by stealing 19 bases in 22 attempts. After the Astros responded with a 2-1 win on Friday, the teams will play the third contest of their four-game series on Saturday afternoon in Houston. Simpson, 24, posted a modest batting line of .285/.315/.317, but his speed benefited the Rays and made the decision to option him difficult.

5/20/25 SAGNOF: Chandler Simpson Makes Opposing Teams Say D’OH!.

There’s many great Simpsons in history. Jessica Simpson, Ashley Simpson, O.J. Simpson. Okay, maybe I better restart the opening.

There is a great T.V. show which most of you have, I am sure, heard of called The Simpsons. I grew up watching it and now get to enjoy it again from the beginning with my 9 year old son who has also taken a liking to it. Please, blog, may I have some more?

5/18/25 Rays aim for speedy recovery from woes in series with Astros. After a sluggish start through 46 games, the Tampa Bay Rays will act fast to change their direction when they host the Houston Astros on Monday night to open a nine-game homestand. Fast might be the key word here, especially after losing two of three to the National League East's last-place Miami Marlins over the weekend. The American League East's fourth-place club at four games under .500, the Rays and their frequently hibernating offense have received a spark from speedy center fielder Chandler Simpson. Simpson, 24, has injected life into the Rays' lineup, which is tied for 11th in the AL in runs scored with 179 (3.89 per game) and tied for seventh in batting average (.242).
