7/29/25 Could Orioles trade Charlie Morton to the Cubs?. As the trade deadline quickly approaches for the Baltimore Orioles, the team will likely remain aggressive in trying to sell off some of their veteran assets. It has been an extremely disappointing season for the Orioles, who are in last place in the American League East despite expectations being high coming into the year. Injuries and poor performance from the starting rotation has led to Baltimore digging themselves into too deep a hole to recover. No team in the AL had won as many games as the Orioles over the past two seasons, but 2025 has been a step in the wrong direction.

7/29/25 Charlie Morton feels 'just regret' for Orioles failings at MLB trade deadline. Like many veteran pitchers on expiring contracts, Charlie Morton's name will appear with frequency this week as Major League Baseball's trade deadline lurches toward its July 31 conclusion. Any team acquiring Morton will get a 41-year-old sage, a two-time World Series champion and a master of reinvention who has turned a deceptive fastball and tight curve into an 18-year career. Perhaps more than any big leaguer, Morton feels every dip and ascent deeply.

7/23/25 Astros linked to former two-time All-Star starting pitcher ahead of trade deadline. The Houston Astros will be in the market for starting pitching help at the trade deadline. Dealing with plenty of injuries in the rotation, the Astros will explore their options to help weather the storm. Per ESPN's Buster Olney, the Astros have expressed interest in Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Charlie Morton. “It seems very likely that Charlie Morton (3.47 ERA last 12 appearances) will be traded, within a relatively thin starting pitching market and a lot of teams looking for help -- the Padres, Yankees, maybe the Mets or Astros; a number of teams have expressed interest,” Olney reported.
