6/04/25 | Yankees Pitcher Chooses to Stay With Organization. New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco is remaining with the organization after being designated for assignment on Tuesday. On Twitter, the club announced that Carrasco was outrighted off the 26-man roster and sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for his second go-around with the affiliate. The 38-year-old was brought up to the majors before Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as the Yankees were in need of a fresh arm after using six relievers during their prior game. Carrasco was not used, however, and it was announced that the club was placing him on outright waivers on Monday before being DFA'd yesterday amidst a slew of roster moves. 6/04/25 | Why the Cleveland Guardians Should Call Up This Red-Hot Pitching Prospect. The Cleveland Guardians need to make a call to the bullpen. Throughout the past decade, pitching has been a strong suit for the Guardians' organization. From arms like Carlos Carrasco, Corey Kluber and Shane Bieber, starting pitching has never been a problem for this small-market team. This year, Cleveland's four primary starters (Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams, Luis Ortiz and Logan Allen) have been marginal at best. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/guardians/opinion/why-the-c... |
6/02/25 | Yankees Release Former Guardians Pitcher. Carlos Carrasco's second stint on the New York Yankees' 26-man roster this season was short-lived. According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, the Yankees are placing the veteran right-hander on outright waivers as they prepare to activate fellow right-hander Fernando Cruz from the injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Cleveland Guardians. Carrasco was called up to the majors in place of Yerry De los Santos yesterday, who was sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, after New York used six relievers in a 18-2 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. 5/12/25 | Yankees get bad injury news on starting pitcher. With veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco outrighted to Triple-A after he was designated for assignment and cleared waivers last week, the Yankees opted to go with long reliever Ryan Yarbrough to start Sunday's game against the Athletics. Next weekend, the lefty probably will get another start when Juan Soto and the Mets visit Yankee Stadium for a Subway Series. After that, more starts or extended outings following an opener could be on tap for Yarbrough every five or six days until a better option surfaces. It probably won't be right-hander Marcus Stroman at least for another month because his left knee discomfort acted up again Friday in Tampa when he pitched to Yankees minor leaguers in a simulated game. 4/25/25 | New York Yankees Veteran Has Become Desperately Needed Steady Second Ace. The New York Yankees got back on the right track on Wednesday night with a 5-1 victory to avoid a sweep against the red hot Cleveland Guardians. Entering the season — especially after injuries to two of their most critical starting pitchers — the outlook for the rotation was not optimistic. Unsurprisingly, the back end of the unit has been for the most part a disaster with Carlos Carrasco struggling as well as Clarke Schmidt and Will Warren not quite clicking yet. The biggest surprise may be from the man who has been thrust into the No. 2 role in the absence of Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil however. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/yankees/news/new-york-yanke... |

4/17/25 | Yankees Sweep Royals, Will "Host" Rays. For those of us who are Yankee Fans, and are old enough to remember the Playoff meetings of 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1980, we hate the Kansas City Royals, and have treated every win over them in a seemingly meaningless game as a great win. Carlos Carrasco started on Monday night, and he was terrific, going 5 innings, and allowing 1 run on 1 hit and 2 walks, striking out 4. Had it not been so early in the season, Aaron Boone -- or Brian Cashman -- probably would have let him go beyond 79 pitches, 49 of which were strikes. The Yankees got solo home runs from Jazz Chisholm in the 4th inning, and 3 in the 5th inning: From Trent Grisham, Ben Rice and Austin Wells.
