7/26/25 Paul Goldschmidt regrets bad throw in 12-5 loss to Phillies, Yankees' 9th error in 4 games. Paul Goldschmidt wishes he had played it differently during the Yankees' game against the Phillies. Instead of attempting an off-balance throw to home plate, he believes he should have gone for the out at first base. His throw not only failed to get the second out but was the Yankees' ninth error in four games. The Yankees committed two errors in their 12-5 loss to Philadelphia, which dropped them 5 1/2 games behind AL East-leading Toronto. Manager Aaron Boone said Goldschmidt was trying to make a play, but it was a mistake.

7/09/25 Yankees-Cardinals Predicted To Swing $75 Million Trade Deadline Blockbuster. The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees have been linked on several occasions over the past few seasons regarding various transactions. For instance, former Cardinals fan favorite Paul Goldschmidt landed a one-year $12.5 million deal with the Yankees last winter and some speculate that 10-time Gold Glove defender Nolan Arenado could be next to join Goldy in the Bronx. "As far as top prospects go, the Yankees don't have a ton to offer," Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller wrote Tuesday when listing his predictions for this summer's trade deadline.

6/29/25 Yankees’ Paul Goldschmidt knows he’s ‘hurt our team’ since scorching start. Paul Goldschmidt had one of just three Yankees hits in Saturday’s 7-0 loss to the A’s, but that didn’t stop him from sharing some self-depreciation after the game. “I have not played well for the last few weeks, maybe even this whole month,” the 15-year-veteran said. “That’s hurt our team the way I’ve played this month.” Goldschmidt’s criticism came after he snapped an 0-for-20 streak with a ...

6/29/25 Yankees Star Gets Brutally Honest About Struggles. The New York Yankees haven't had the most successful month. As the team looks to remain at the top of the American League East, they're going to need to find some stretches of wins, but that's been a problem in the last 30 days. One name that has stood out during the struggles due to his own lack of success is first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt's plate presence has all but vanished along with most of the Yankees roster.

Try it free Paul Goldschmidt has done a lot in what's been a 15-year career in the majors, but Sunday's pinch-running appearance was a first for him — and he made it worthwhile. Goldschmidt, sitting for a second straight game as Aaron Boone tries to find playing time for the team's left-handed hitters versus righty starters, replaced Giancarlo Stanton following Stanton's single in the bottom of the eighth of a 4-2 win over Baltimore . The 37-year-old came all the way around to score from first on Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s

6/20/25 Paul Goldschmidt Reveals Yankees Slump-Ending Mindset. The New York Yankees were in the midst of a historic slump — putting up some of their worst numbers in the Aaron Boone era — when finally, something clicked and they secured a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels. The victory was in no small part part due to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who hit a solo home run deep to left field in the second inning. The hit came immediately after center fielder Trent Grisham also hit a two-run homer, securing the Pinstripes an early lead. After the game, Goldschmidt discussed the Yankees' mindset when taking on the slump.

6/20/25 What's true and false about the Yankees' trend of dipping in June. inside the yankees What's true and false about the Yankees' trend of dipping in June By Greg Joyce Published June 20, 2025, 6:20 a.m. ET Paul Goldschmidt and the Yankees have struggled to start the month of June. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post The calendar was in the final days of May, and still there was panic about a June swoon. The Yankees had just lost two of three to the Dodgers in Los Angeles — the one win was actually the only game of the series that was played in June — and as they flew home, there were fears from the fanbase about the month ahead. Their six-game losing streak and 30-inning scoreless streak this week did not do much to quell those worries. If this all feels too familiar,

6/16/25 Yankees Look Like Geniuses Thanks To Ex-Cardinals Star. The St. Louis Cardinals opted to move on from Paul Goldschmidt this past offseason and now he's in line to accomplish something he hasn't since 2022. Goldschmidt has been incredible so far this season and is currently the leading vote-getter at first base in the American League ahead of the 2025 All-Star Game. Goldschmidt has a slight lead over Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for the top spot in the American League at first base.

St. Louis wanted to cut costs and let Goldschmidt go as a result of that. The New York Yankees swooped in and signed Goldschmidt to a one-year deal and he's having a career revival. 6/08/25 Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt is a two-strike master by sticking with old-school approach. Access the Yankees beat like never before Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Greg Joyce about the inside buzz on the Yankees. Try it free The “professional” label follows Paul Goldschmidt around for good reason. In virtually any part of the game that involves subtlety — the fundamentals around first base, knowing how and when to swipe a base without elite speed — the 37-year-old excels. It follows, then, that he owns a master's in the finer art of hitting with two strikes. Entering play Sunday, 171 hitters had tallied at least 100 plate appearances in which they reached two strikes. Goldschmidt's .278 average in such situations ranked third.

6/07/25 $12.5 Million Ex-Cardinals MVP Predicted To Be All-Star Starter. The St. Louis Cardinals are playing much better baseball than anticipated this year. Instead of being bottom dwellers in the National League Central, they are only four games back of first place in the division. This comes after St. Louis said goodbye to a few key pieces last offseason. One such piece was first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.

6/07/25 Former All-Star Could Have Solved Yankees' Infield Issues. Perhaps this is a bit of an over-exaggeration, but it's not totally unfair to assert that the New York Yankees have an infield conundrum on their hands. With that being said, the Yankees should have no qualms about their current situation at first base, where 37-year-old Paul Goldschmidt is holding down the fort with an .854 OPS, and at shortstop, where Anthony Volpe has logged four Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) with a 115 wRC+. DJ LeMahieu immediately recaptured his role as the starter at the former of the two positions upon returning from the injured list on May 13, and the results simply haven't been there thus far: in 18 games and 61 plate appearances, he's slashed .236/.311/.309. Sliding over to the hot corner, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is currently taking one for the team by playing there everyday out of necessity.
