7/26/25 Garrett Crochet overcomes shaky first inning, Jarren Duran has two triples and a double in Red Sox win. Crochet (12-4) allowed two runs in the first inning, then combined with Justin Wilson, Garrett Whitlock, and Aroldis Chapman to blank the Dodgers for eight innings. It was the 17th save for Chapman in 19 chances. The 15 strikeouts matched a season high for Sox pitchers. Chapman walked Esteury Ruiz with two outs in the ninth inning.

6/26/25 Wonderdog Still Barking: Justin Wilson Thrives With Boston Red Sox. Of the several Wonderdogs who made it to The Show, only Justin Wilson remains. Wilson, one of the star pitchers for Fresno State's 2008 College World Series championship team, is in his 13th Major League Baseball season. “This game will get rid of you in a hurry if you don't perform,” Wilson said. Being a left-handed pitcher helps, Wilson said.

6/24/25 'Awesome' Boston Red Sox reliever has quietly put together dominant numbers. The Red Sox had interest in acquiring left-handed reliever Justin Wilson from the Reds at the 2024 trade deadline but a deal didn't line up. Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow then wasted no time this offseason locking up the 37-year-old. Boston gave Wilson a one-year, $2.25 million contract Nov. 14. It seemed questionable at the time why the Red Sox were making him a priority so soon into the offseason after he struggled in 2024.

5/19/25 Fill-in manager Ramón Vázquez makes all the right moves with Red Sox bullpen in win over Mets. The game didn't cooperate, but Vázquez and the Red Sox bullpen aptly navigated the final 13 outs to claim a 3-1 victory over the Mets on a night of howling winds and dueling fanbases at Fenway Park. In the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, Vázquez made two-out pitching changes with a two-run lead and the tying run either on base or at the plate. Each time, a Sox reliever responded. Justin Wilson, Greg Weissert, and Justin Slaten each stranded runners before Aroldis Chapman sealed the win with a scoreless ninth.

3/22/25 Why This Pitcher Is X-Factor For Early Red Sox Bullpen Stability. The Boston Red Sox will rely on several veteran relievers in high-leverage situations out of the bullpen to begin the 2025 season. Justin Wilson also adds another left-hander to the group with veteran experience.

2/15/25 Meet new Red Sox reliever who sits in mid-90s, signed just 15 days after World Series. Veteran left-handed reliever Justin Wilson wasted no time in free agency. “I felt like it was a good, fair deal and it's nice to be signed early and be able to prepare for the season,” Wilson said Friday at JetBlue Park. Wilson has a 3.61 ERA in 587 career outings and fills a couple of needs. Six Red Sox left-handed relievers combined for a 4.33 ERA last year and only one (Cam Booser who was traded in the offseason) had an ERA under 4.00.

1/10/25 Red Sox Free Agency Update: Boston checks in with multiple relievers. The Boston Red Sox's bullpen struggled mightily in the back half of the 2024 campaign. The additions of Justin Wilson and Aroldis Chapman have brought some left-handedness and increased velocity into the mix, but the Sox are itching to sign more veteran arms for the 'pen. Boston has checked in with Tanner Scott, Jeff Hoffman, Carlos Estévez, A. J. Minter, Phil Maton, Andrew Kittredge (who has since signed with the Orioles) and Tommy Kahnle, with varying degrees of interest, per multiple sources.

1/09/25 Former Mets reliever seen as a free agent option for Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox have already added a couple of veteran relievers this offseason, signing Justin Wilson and Aroldis Chapman to try and re-tool a group that needs to be better in 2025. According to MassLive's Chris Cotillo, one option that's on the Red Sox's radar in free agency is right-handed reliever Phil Maton. Maton, 31, was a 20th-round pick of the San Diego Padres in the 2015 MLB draft out of Louisiana Tech.

12/10/24 Juan Soto isn't the only free agent the Mets stole from the Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox entered the offseason with a huge need for pitching, both in the rotation and the bullpen, and while they've already acquired Justin Wilson and Aroldis Chapman, they could still use more. Before Boston lost out on superstar outfielder Juan Soto to the New York Mets, Steve Cohen's team reportedly beat the Red Sox to another free agent - right-handed pitcher Clay Holmes.

11/17/24 Alex Cora Gives Insight Into Red Sox's First Offseason Addition. The Red Sox appear to be interested in big-game hunting this winter, but the club kicked off its offseason with an under-the-radar move. Boston last Thursday signed relief pitcher Justin Wilson in free agency. Wilson is coming off a 2024 season with the Cincinnati Reds in which he posted a 5.59 ERA over 60 appearances. While the left-hander, who has spent time with seven teams dating back to his rookie season in 2012, doesn't have numbers that jump off the page, Cora believes he could be a valuable contributor in 2025.
