8/02/25 Cardinals Expected To Mercifully Trade Gold Glover In Offseason. The St. Louis Cardinals have reportedly tried to trade veteran infielder Nolan Arenado for months, but his massive contract and no-trade clause have made that complicated. Arenado has regressed way further than anybody anticipated. Thomas Gauvain of Redbird Rants recently revealed that he expected the Cardinals would look to trade Arenado again in the offseason.

8/02/25 Insider reveals why Cardinals didn't trade Nolan Arenado. No trade clauses are perhaps the worst thing in Major League Baseball for teams like the St. Louis Cardinals, with players they want to move who are on expensive deals. For Nolan Arenado, that was the problem once again. According to a recent report from MLB.com's John Denton, that was something that came up during the deadline. Denton reported that the star third baseman and president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak, had a talk before the deadline, and Arenado wasn't willing to change his stance on where he wanted to be traded.

8/01/25 Cardinals News: St. Louis Loses Veteran Slugger To Shoulder Injury. According to The Athletic's Katie Woo, the St. Louis Cardinals are placing veteran infielder Nolan Arenado on the injured list with a nagging shoulder injury that's bothered him for weeks. "The St. Louis Cardinals will place third baseman Nolan Arenado on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder injury before Friday's game against the San Diego Padres, team sources told The Athletic," Woo wrote.

7/31/25 Nolan Arenado Gives Brief Statement On Cardinals Trade Rumors. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumors that future Hall of Fame third baseman Nolan Arenado's trade market could heat up ahead of the 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline. It will pass at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday night and the St. Louis Cardinals' star has been discussed at length over the last few days. "Arenado, who came to the Cardinals before the 2021 season and was once thought to be the final piece in making the franchise World Series contenders again, used the no-trade clause in his contract to squash an agreed-upon deal to the Astros last December," Denton shared.

7/30/25 Nolan Arenado's Cardinals Future In Doubt Thanks To Contender. The St. Louis Cardinals may have a suitor for third baseman Nolan Areando after all. Arenado was in trade rumors all offseason but there hasn't been much noise recently. The thing that is the most interesting is the fact that the rumors are most tied to the Houston Astros who Arenado turned down a deal to during the offseason. Arenado used his no-trade clause to stay in St. Louis, but rumors are heating up and USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale reported that Houston is considering pursuing Arenado and that he is more likely to waive the no-trade clause now.

7/29/25 MLB Mock Trade: Cardinals Deal Nolan Arenado & Ryan Helsley To Toronto Blue Jays. The St. Louis Cardinals owe Nolan Arenado for the remainder of his contract ($21 million) this year, along with two additional seasons for a combined $31 million. Over his first 73 games (79 for the Cardinals), he was hitting .251 with 37 runs, 10 home runs, 39 RBIs, and one steal over 279 at-bats. At this point, St. Louis would gift wrap him to a playoff contender for pennies on the dollar. The best path for a contender to execute a deal for Arenado may be the Toronto Blue Jays, but it may hinge on St. Louis conceding their playoff chances in 2025.

7/28/25 Nolan Arenado Rumors Intensify; Chances Of Cardinals Blockbuster. The St. Louis Cardinals could be days away from trading a franchise cornerstone away. Recently, it has seemed unlikely that Nolan Arenado would be traded this summer thanks in large part to his no-trade clause and the club's early success this season. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand shared that a deal is possible now and mentioned a handful of teams with interest at third base, including the Chicago Cubs.

7/27/25 Cardinals' Nolan Arenado Lost 1 Trade Deadline Option. Before the 2025 Major League Baseball season started, it didn't seem likely that Nolan Arenado was going to be on the St. Louis Cardinals' roster. Arenado was linked to teams left and right and the Cardinals weren't shy with their interest in moving on from him. Arenado didn't request a deal, but it was clear that at the time he was open to leaving for a contender, but only in the right situation. It was reported that Arenado gave the Cardinals a list of five teams he was interested in.

7/21/25 Cardinals Linked To AL Contender In Nolan Arenado Trade Package Scenario. The St. Louis Cardinals' days with superstar third baseman Nolan Arenado could be numbered with the July 31 trade deadline steadily approaching. Given that the trade deadline is less than two weeks away and the Cardinals are 8 1/2 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs in the National League Central and are 3 1/2 games out of an NL Wild Card spot, a St. Louis fire sale could be imminent. After failing to find a new home for Arenado this past offseason, this summer's trade deadline could be the Cardinals' perfect opportunity to complete a deal with a top American League contender for the 10-time Gold Glove defender.
