7/22/25 Cardinals fall behind early, can't climb back in series-sweeping loss to Diamondbacks. PHOENIX — Stepping onto the mound after rocky starts proved costly for the St. Louis Cardinals in their first two games of a threegame series in Arizona, and starter Miles Mikolas' troubling first frame dug a hole too deep for the Cardinals to claw out of Sunday at Chase Field.Mikolas allowed four runs in the first inning, the first three of which came with one out on a home run from Eugenio… Premium Content is available to subscribers only. 7/21/25 Cardinals 'Should Capitalize' On Trade Markets For Pair Of Veteran Hurlers. The St. Louis Cardinals are stuck between wanting to commit to a rebuild and hoping to make a legitimate playoff push this year for the first time since 2022. The July 31 trade deadline is less than two weeks away and the Cardinals have several impending free agents who could be moved, such as right-handed pitchers Miles Mikolas and Ryan Helsley. "Trade middle relievers Steven Matz and Phil Maton," CBS Sports' Dayn Perry wrote Monday afternoon as he suggested three moves the Cardinals should make before this year's trade deadline.

7/20/25 Cardinals Forced To Keep 2 Trade Chips Despite Ongoing Rumors. The St. Louis Cardinals could be one of the more intriguing teams to follow at the trade deadline. Two names that have been mentioned on the trade market are Cardinals pitchers Miles Mikolas and Sonny Gray. Starting pitchers typically generate a solid amount of interest on the trade block, so it would make sense for these two players to be mixed in the trade rumors swirling around baseball. USA Today's Bob Nightengale recently dropped the bombshell report that indicated Mikolas and Gray would both be unwilling to waive their respective no-trade clauses if the Cardinals tried to deal them away from St. Louis.

7/11/25 Cardinals-Rangers Blockbuster Deal Would Make Things Right. The Cardinals currently have a 50-44 record and have been inconsistent recently, but overall has been good. St. Louis got back in the win column with a win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday with Miles Mikolas on the mound. If the Cardinals were to add a piece before the trade deadline, it would make sense to add a power bat. St. Louis isn't riddled with holes, like some teams.

7/11/25 The Key Fix That Led to Miles Mikolas' Gem After One of His Worst Starts. Miles Mikolas has been quite an unpredictable starter in the 2025 MLB season for the St. Louis Cardinals. Against the Cubs, Mikolas was chased for eight earned runs on 10 hits, six of which were home runs. Adjustments had to be made after such a horrible start, and Mikolas addressed that with the help of pitching coach Dusty Blake.

7/10/25 Cardinals Tagged To Trade For Veteran Hurler With 'Front-Line Upside'. The St. Louis Cardinals' rotation needs to improve if they plan to successfully end their two-year playoff drought this fall. Disappointing performances from veteran right-handed pitchers Miles Mikolas and Erick Fedde have negatively impacted the Cardinals' playoff standings -- sitting at 5 1/2 games behind the first-place Chicago Cubs in the National League Central and 1 1/2 games out of an NL Wild Card spot. The July 31 trade deadline is steadily approaching and St. Louis' front office might want to consider making a move to boost the rotation before it's too late.

7/10/25 Cardinals' Miles Mikolas looks to forget subpar outings, conquer Nats. St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas will seek to get his season back on track before the All-Star break next week. The Cardinals won 4-2 on Tuesday, and the Nationals answered with an 8-2 victory Wednesday night to snap their four-game losing streak. In his past two starts, Mikolas (4-6, 5.26 ERA) has allowed 14 runs on 17 hits in 10 innings.

7/08/25 Cardinals reshuffle rotation: What now for Miles Mikolas and Erick Fedde?. With one final homestand before the All-Star break, the St. Louis Cardinals have reshuffled their starting rotation, hoping for a spark out of their pitching staff that's been hard to ignite in recent weeks.

7/06/25 Cardinals Reunion With Ace Would Solve Miles Mikolas Problem. To get specific, Miles Mikolas has been an issue in the Cardinals' rotation for quite some time now. It's clear the Cardinals need to replace him, but the solution might not be as clear. One of the options the Cardinals could pursue is a blockbuster trade with the Miami Marlins to reunite with ace Sandy Alcántara. The righty originally came to the big leagues with the Cardinals before being dealt to Miami.

7/06/25 Cardinals Urged To Replace Veteran In Huge Trade. The St. Louis Cardinals have a massive issue in their starting rotation. Miles Mikolas has been largely uncompetitive over the last month and it's coming back to hurt the Cardinals. If this team is going to be a postseason team, Mikolas can't be on the roster in October. With that in mind, FanSided's Christopher Kline recently urged the Cardinals to swing a trade to replace Mikolas in the coming weeks.

6/22/25 Cardinals unable to complete sweep of Reds on hot Sunday. After a jaw-dropping comeback to win the series against the Reds yesterday, it was fair to wonder if the Cardinals had more in the tank today when they fell behind 4-1. Miles Mikolas drew the start for the Cardinals. Not great by any stretch, but he did keep the Cardinals in the game, and that’s about all you can ask.

After a red-hot May, they have come back down to earth in June and are seven games back in the National League Central. 6/17/25 Inside Cardinals' proactive planning to reduce strain on pitchers, and how it can pay off. From the Cardinals dugout, all Miles Mikolas initially saw was the Milwaukee Brewers' trainer and manager rushing to the mound Thursday evening to check on the club's prized rookie pitcher, who throws sizzling 102 mph fastballs and was in the midst of a no-hitter. “Gosh, don't be hurt,” Mikolas said. What Mikolas missed was Jacob Misiorowski rolling his ankle — not wincing or flexing his arm — as he returned up the mound in the sixth inning Thursday night at American Family Field.
