7/23/25 | Rangers Activate Jon Gray, Designate Luke Jackson for Assignment. The Texas Rangers made the expected move on Wednesday, activating starting pitcher Jon Gray from the 60-day injured list. In a bit of a surprise move, the Rangers opted to cut ties with reliever Luke Jackson, who was designated for assignment. It's great and all, but, Gray might hold off on his celebration for at least a few days. Gray β who hasn't pitched in the big leagues this season after his wrist was broken by a comebacker in spring training β could be activated from the 60-day injured list before Wednesday's game vs. the Athletics at Globe Life Field. 7/20/25 | After final rehab start, Jon Gray's role on Texas Rangers' pitching staff remains flexible. Rangers starter - or possibly reliever - Jon Gray appeared to check all the major goals in what should be his final rehab appearance. On Saturday, starting for Triple-A Round Rock, Gray threw 61 pitches in 3 ? innings at Las Vegas. The Rangers had wanted Gray to get into the fourth and throw at least 60 pitches. What mattered, though, was that Gray's fastball averaged 94.9 mph, right in line with where his fastball averaged a year ago. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/07/... |
7/17/25 | Jon Gray will return to the Texas Rangers soon, but in what role on the pitching staff?. The time table has moved up on Jon Gray's return to the Rangers' pitching staff. Gray, out all season due to a fractured wrist, will make a third rehab appearance on Saturday, and then, manager Bruce Bochy said βit's a good chance he will be with us.β The looming question, though, is in what role - starter or reliever. Gray is expected to throw four innings or about 60 pitches for either Triple-A Round Rock in Las Vegas or Double-A Frisco at home. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/07/... |
