8/01/25 MLB rumors: How GMs actually feel about dealing with Red Sox in trade talks. The New York Yankees reloaded their bullpen with former All-Star closers and infused defensive versatility to their infield. The Seattle Mariners acquired Josh Naylor and brought back Eugenio Suarez, strengthening a lineup that already includes MVP contender Cal Raleigh and the capable Julio Rodriguez. Determined to keep pace in the American League West and Wild Card races, the Texas Rangers added veteran pitcher Merrill Kelly to their imposing starting rotation.

8/01/25 ESPN MLB Insider Makes Bold Assertion About Seattle Mariners as Playoff Push Mounts. The Seattle Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers 6-0 on Thursday night, taking over sole possession in the battle for the third and final wild card spot in the American League. The M's showed off their newest additions in front of the home crowd for the first time, as Josh Naylor went 1-for-4 with a single and Eugenio Suarez went 1-for-4 with a double. Furthermore, Caleb Ferguson threw a scoreless inning in relief. Given what the M's accomplished at the trade deadline, ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney is feeling very confident in Seattle's ability to make the playoffs - and make a run - in 2025.

7/31/25 Hall: D-backs can 'rediscover' themselves after trades. It's been clear for a full week leading into the MLB trade deadline that the Arizona Diamondbacks had already decided their 2025 direction. D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall said it out loud hours before the team traded first baseman Josh Naylor. The Eugenio Suarez deal on deadline eve is likely not the last move for Arizona, with starting pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly on contract years and receiving plenty of trade interest.

7/31/25 Red Sox trying to trade for Eugenio Suarez is total slap in the face to Rafael Devers. The Seattle Mariners have made two of the biggest deals of the 2025 trade deadline so far by acquiring Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suárez from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Naylor would have made sense as a target for the Boston Red Sox, as they need a full-time first baseman to relieve the Abraham Toro-Romy Gonzalez platoon at the position.

7/30/25 MLB trade deadline: Eugenio Suárez, Mitch Keller, Merrill Kelly among prized players who could move. The market is heating up in the last week before the July 31 trade deadline. Arizona sent Josh Naylor to Seattle on Thursday. The Yankees acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Rockies on Friday while the Mets added left-handed reliever Gregory Soto from the Orioles. More Diamondbacks could be traded, including slugger Eugenio Suárez and starting pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly. Mitch Keller and Sandy Alcantara could also be dealt.
