7/29/25 New York Mets could target former All-Star closer to bolster bullpen. With just three days left until the trade deadline, the New York Mets are actively looking to bolster their roster for a late-October run. It's no secret that the Mets need to add reinforcements to their bullpen after losing A.J. Minter, Danny Young, Max Kranick and Dedniel Núñez for the season, the latter three to Tommy John surgery, which will keep them out for much of next season as well. New York began their effort to improve the bullpen by trading for Gregory Soto on Friday, landing a two-time All-Star on a club-friendly one-year contract from the Baltimore Orioles.

6/26/25 Insiders call lefty hurler a fit for New York Mets. Ever since A.J. Minter and Danny Young suffered season-ending injuries in late April, the New York Mets have been searching for left-handed relief pitching. Over the past couple of months, they have promoted Génesis Cabrera, brought back Brooks Raley, traded for José Castillo, and signed Richard “Dicky” Lovelady in an effort to make up for the loss of their two southpaw relievers.

6/15/25 Mets predicted to land $11 million 7x All-Star in huge trade with Red Sox. The New York Mets are an excellent baseball team with one small blemish. In late-game scenarios, these Mets don't have a shutdown left-handed reliever they can lean on. Offseason signee A.J. Minter went on the season-ending injured list at the end of April, and their only current lefty in the bullpen is José Castillo, who came from the Arizona Diamondbacks' scrap heap. There are always a handful of lefties available at the trade deadline, but in a year where they expect to make another deep postseason run, the Mets might as well swing big.
