7/31/25 'Still a Chance' Tigers Are Option for Cardinals Star Nolan Arenado in Trade. The Detroit Tigers have a few clear areas of weakness they are looking to address on their roster ahead of the MLB trade deadline. Zach McKinstry has been handling most of the playing time there recently, but that takes away from what his best asset: versatility. The Tigers are one of many teams that were connected to Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suarez, but he was dealt to the Seattle Mariners in a late-night deal on Wednesday.

7/30/25 Niyo: Trade deadline still should be a big relief for Tigers. Detroit — You learn a lot when you go through it a little. And if you ask AJ Hinch what he knows about the immediate uncertainty ahead — the final 24 hours leading up to the MLB trade deadline at 6 p.m. Thursday — he'll tell you the easy part first: He doesn't know what's going to happen. 7/16/25 Tigers Rumored Trade Deadline Target Avoids Injury Scare at All-Star Game. The Detroit Tigers have been the best team in baseball virtually all season. One area they could look to upgrade ahead of the trade deadline is third base, which would allow them to move All-Star Zach McKinstry back into his valuable super utility role where he can play across the diamond wherever he's needed. If the Tigers choose to go down that route, someone who has routinely been linked to them as a possible target is Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suarez. In the midst of another incredible season, he entered the All-Star break sitting fourth in home runs (31) and tied for third with Riley Green in RBI (78).

7/12/25 Infielder who was a disappointment with the Cubs is now an All-Star in Detroit. Zach McKinstry's All-Star announcement is bittersweet for Cubs fans as Chicago's bench struggles to be a major pain point. Former Chicago Cubs utility man Zach McKinstry just made his first All-Star team as a member of the Detroit Tigers.

7/10/25 How Tigers surprised Zach McKinstry with MLB All-Star announcement. "Everybody's so proud of him," A.J. Hinch said of Zach McKinstry. "Rewarding moment for me as a manager, but more importantly for Z-Mac as a player."
