8/01/25 Tigers Need Kyle Finnegan to be HIs First-Half Self Down Stretch. The Detroit Tigers needed right-now help in the bullpen if they want to make a strong run when October comes around. Near the end of the deadline, the Tigers acquired Washington Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan for pitching prospects R.J. Sales and Josh Randall. Finnegan is a 33-year-old who made his debut for the Nationals back in 2020 and has only been used as a reliever in his career.

The AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers, in an effort to bolster its weakest link for a World Series run, are finalizing a trade to acquire closer Kyle Finnegan from the Washington Nationals for two minor leaguers, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Thursday.

7/29/25 Nationals Expected to Trade These Two Pitchers by Deadline, per MLB Insider. MLB insider Jim Bowden, who writes for The Athletic, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the Nationals are expected to move starter Michael Soroka and reliever Kyle Finnegan by the deadline, which is 6 p.m. eastern on Thursday. Bowden, a former MLB general manager, did not indicate their destinations.

7/28/25 Cincinnati Reds' Actions Showing Desire to Make Move Before Trade Deadline. The Reds are 56-50 after sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend at Great American Ball Park. The trade deadline is now just a couple of days away and the Reds are reportedly looking for a middle of the lineup bat as well as bullpen help. The Reds were one of seven or more teams that sent scouts to the Twins vs Nationals series, according to Bobby Nightengale. Kyle Finnegan, Willi Castro, Harrison Bader, Danny Coulombe, Jhoan Duran, Nathaniel Lowe, and Griffin Jax are some potential names from the Nationals and Twins to keep an eye on that might be dealt before the deadline. The Reds could really use some bullpen help and quickly. Emilio Pagan and Tony Santillan pitched in all three games

7/26/25 Insider Says Nationals' Veteran Infielder 'Makes Sense' for Yankees. The Washington Nationals could be very busy before July 31. The usual suspects of Kyle Finnegan, Nathaniel Lowe, Josh Bell and Michael Soroka are considered to be the team's best trade chips, but perhaps their veteran infielder Amed Rosario could also net them a nice return. Jon Heyman of The New York Post said Rosario "makes sense" for the New York Yankees since they are in need of a right-hitting utility man.
