3/29/25 | Pirates Duo Sent to Triple-A After Clearing Waivers. The Pittsburgh Pirates saw two of their players clear waivers and head back down to the minor leagues. Pirates right-handed pitcher Peter Strzelecki and outfielder Joshua Palacios both cleared waivers and will head down to Triple-A Indianapolis, according to Alex Stumpf of MLB.com. Palacios played 91 games for the Pirates in the 2023 season, slashing .239/.279/.413, with nine doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 40 RBI. 3/27/25 | Pirates Finalize Bullpen Ahead of Opening Day. The Pittsburgh Pirates finalized their bullpen ahead of opening day, which is in less than 24 hours. Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Pirates general manager Ben Cherington said that they designated right-handed pitcher Peter Strzelecki for assignment and that he won't make the team. Cherington also said that left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki takes his place on the 40-man roster and on the MLB roster too, making Borucki the only non-roster invite to spring training to make it.
