With the second half of the regular season kicking off, it appears the club has promoted a pitcher to improve the depth of the bullpen. On Friday, it was announced that pitcher Matt Gage is being promoted to the majors, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman. Whenever he does pitch against the Blue Jays, it will be a bit of a homecoming party for Gage.

7/05/25 Former Dodgers Pitcher Signs With Major NL West Rival. Former Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Matt Gage signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants earlier this week. Gage has been assigned to Triple-A Sacramento after inking a deal with the Giants. The southpaw was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers, and once he cleared waivers, elected free agency. This season, Gage tossed 5.2 scoreless innings for the Tigers along with three strikeouts and 1.588 WHIP.

7/03/25 Former Tigers lefty who elected free agency signs new deal with Giants. Former Detroit Tigers left-hander Matt Gage has signed a minor-league contract with the San Francisco Giants, the organization that drafted him 11 years ago. Gage, 32, was designated for assignment by the Tigers seven days ago. Gage threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings of relief during a brief stint with Detroit before being DFA'd to clear a roster spot for Dietrich Enns, who is scheduled to make his second start for the Tigers on Thursday in Washington.
