7/09/25 'It's like a miracle': Parents of Tigers' Wenceel Perez in U.S. to see him play for first time. When Wenceel Perez got the call last April that he'd been promoted to the big leagues, his first call was to his parents back in the Dominican Republic. There were screams of joy and tears and they assured their son they'd do everything they could to try to get to the United States to see his debut, which was in Pittsburgh on April 8 last year. “They thought they would never be able to come to the United States,” Perez said. It took about 18 months, but the Perez family, thanks in no small part to the persistence of the Tigers, finally received their visas and on Tuesday were at Comerica Park watching their son play right field for the Tigers for the first time.

7/04/25 Wenceel Perez, Zach McKinstry solo homers lead Tigers over Guardians. Wenceel Perez and Zach McKinstry hit solo home runs and four Detroit pitchers combined for a nine-hitter, lifting the visiting Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the free-falling Cleveland Guardians on Friday night. Perez went deep in the third inning and McKinstry cleared the fence in the fourth, both off Guardians starter Slade Cecconi (3-4), as the American League-leading Tigers won the opener of their three-game weekend series.

6/22/25 Tigers salvage series finale vs. Rays to halt 3-game losing skid. You don't accept excuses, but facts are facts, as they say. “It's brutal,” manager AJ Hinch said before the game Sunday. Wenceel Perez lined an opposite-field, two-run homer, on an 0-2 fastball from lefty reliever Garrett Cleavinger, breaking a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning and helping the Tigers snap a three-game losing streak and salvage the finale with a 9-3 win against the Rays at Steinbrenner Field.

6/18/25 After adjustment, Wenceel Pérez could be a piece Tigers were missing. As the trade deadline approaches, the belief is that the Tigers need to add a right-handed bat. After homering from the right side for the second straight game in Detroit's win over the Pirates on Tuesday, switch-hitting Wenceel Perez beamed when asked to gauge his confidence level and said, "Oh my god, it's so high right now." Since rejoining the Tigers after missing the first two months of the season with a back injury he suffered late in spring training, Perez has been the best hitter in their lineup. Perez was similarly hot when he arrived last season, before cooling off as the league adjusted to him.
