7/31/25 | No big deals because Red Sox refused to move their big league contributors at the trade deadline. With a focus on 2025, they decided to pursue upgrades to the big league roster instead of diminishing one area to bolster another. “Over the last two to three weeks, it became clear that all 26 guys on our roster were contributing to what we were doing,” said Breslow. Briefly, after Masataka Yoshida was activated from the injured list in early July – thus creating a roster bottleneck in which one of Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu, or Yoshida would sit every night – the Sox appeared well positioned to deal an outfielder. 7/29/25 | Red Sox Likely To Part Ways With 22-Year-Old Fan Favorite: Insider. The Boston Red Sox have still yet to figure out a long-term solution for their outfield logjam. Right now, the Red Sox can play all four starting outfielders and still have room for Masataka Yoshida or Rob Refsnyder at designated hitter. After the 2025 season, there's a strong chance Jarren Duran could be dealt, or perhaps Wilyer Abreu. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/boston-red-sox-news... |
7/27/25 | 3 solutions for Red Sox to solve their outfield logjam before trade deadline. The Boston Red Sox remain in the Wild Card race as their heater before the All-Star break propelled them back into the conversation, but a few issues still linger on the roster. The outfield is playing incredibly well, but there are simply too many players to give all the talent consistent playing time. Breslow has made several successful moves to build this roster, which now seems just two pieces away from being a genuine World Series contender. With Masataka Yoshida returning and Alex Bregman healthy, questions about how to resolve the outfield logjam are growing louder. Source: https://bosoxinjection.com/3-solutions-for-red-sox... |

(AP Photo/Charles Krupa) AP By Chris Cotillo | ccotillo@MassLive.com PHILADELPHIA — Sunday represented Masataka Yoshida's first start in the outfield since the end of the 2023 season . A day later, he'll get a chance to rest his legs as the Red Sox start the second half of their tough two-series road trip at Citizens Bank Park. Yoshida is Boston's odd man out against the Phillies and ace Zack Wheeler in the opener of a three-game series Monday. For the second straight game, Roman Anthony is Boston's designated hitter. Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu are starting in the outfield. Yoshida has hit .273 with two doubles Source: https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2025/07/in-red-sox... |
7/20/25 | Masataka Yoshida adds defensive duties, playing left field for Red Sox. Yoshida had no qualms about putting on his glove, even on a cooler, slightly blustery summer afternoon at notoriously unpredictable Wrigley Field, saying his everyday pregame routine still includes outfield reps during batting practice. … My goal was to get back out there in the outfield when I got the surgery. It's been a long process but to be able to go back out there and play the outfield, it's really important for me. It's been a busy series for Yoshida, among the glut of outfielders that Cora juggles from day to day. Source: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2025/07/20/sports/red-... |
