8/02/25 | Texas Rangers' Evan Carter dealing with back spasms ahead of Saturday's game in Seattle. Evan Carter is dealing with back trouble again. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday morning that Carter had back “spasms.” It was very possible he will end up on the IL, given his history of back issues. Bochy said the Rangers had a player en route to Seattle, but no roster move had been made. Carter missed most of last year with what was described as a lumbar sprain. Evan Carter slid safely home in the top of the 10th inning, lifting the Texas Rangers to a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. On Monday, Major League Baseball announced Josh Smith as its AL Player of the Week. Smith, 27, had an amazing week, slashing .423/.500/.769/1.269 with a pair of homers.
