7/03/25 | Tigers reliever will stick around after being 27th man for doubleheader. Bailey Horn is sticking around for at least one more day. The Detroit Tigers left-hander served as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader. He was not used and, rather than return Horn to Triple-A Toledo, the Tigers decided to option right-hander Tyler Owens instead. Owens walked three batters in Game 1 on Wednesday. Horn, 27, is in his second stint with the Tigers. He spent five days with the big-league club in April, striking out two over 1 1/3 scoreless innings in his lone appearance. The Tigers claimed him Horn off waivers from the Boston Red Sox last November, but DFA'd him a month later when they signed second baseman Gleyber Torres . They'll make a corresponding move to fill Horn's spot before Friday night's series opener against the Baltimore Orioles. Horn pitched in just one game in his five-day stint with the big-league club, striking out two over 1 1/3 scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres on April 22. Horn was recalled from Toledo to take the spot of injured right-hander John Brebbia on April 19. Horn had been designated for assignment when the Cardinals signed veteran reliever Phil Maton . The Tigers sent cash considerations to complete the deal. It's the second stint in the Tigers organization for Horn.
