6/16/25 | Willowbrook's Chris Roycroft, college teammate of Princeton's Jeff Wedekind, chases MLB dream with Cardinals. Willowbrook graduate Chris Roycroft pitched to Princeton's Jett Wedekind at Aurora University in 2018 and 2019, both named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference All-Conference for the Spartans. Five years later, Roycroft broke in with the St. Louis Cardinals. The road from Division III school Aurora to the big leagues was not an easy one, taking Roycroft on a path pitching two seasons for the Joliet Slammers of the independent Frontier League to Busch Stadium. 6/11/25 | Reliever Chris Roycroft's road to success remains bumpy: Cardinals Extra. Chris Roycroft is a little enigmatic. Against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, his four-seam fastball averaged 95.9 mph, topping out at 96.5 mph. His sinker had even more heat, averaging 95.2 mph and topping out at 97.3 mph. The ingredients are lacking in quantity, but they're certainly full of flavor. In his first appearance since getting called up from Class AAA Memphis on Monday, Roycroft allowed three hits and two earned runs in the top of the ninth against the Blue Jays. The eventual deciding run in a 10-9 loss scored on a wild pitch from Roycroft. Source: https://www.stltoday.com/sports/professional/mlb/c... |
3/26/25 | Advice for the four Cardinals on their first opening day in St. Louis: Cherish it. “I worked this hard to get here, and the work’s not gonna stop. Just keep on doing what I’ve been doing and enjoy every little moment there is ...” said pitcher Chris Roycroft. Source: https://sports.yahoo.com/article/advice-four-cardi... |
3/15/25 | Cardinals snag 9-5 win over Blue Jays in spring training. It seemed like an unusual request for his manager to make when reliever Chris Roycroft came into the game on Sunday, but Oli Marmol had some logic behind it. “I was sitting there next to Jon Jay and I was like, 'Man I hope he walks this first guy',” Marmol said. Roycroft, battling for a spot in the Cardinals' bullpen, hasn't had to pitch with many runners on base this spring, allowing only three hits and one walk in his five scoreless innings before coming in against the Blue Jays in the eighth inning.
