7/27/25 Nationals make decision on trading MacKenzie Gore. The Washington Nationals are clearly trade deadline sellers. Gore is a bit older than the likes of James Wood, C.J. Abrams and Dylan Crews, and he has only a couple years of club control left. "The Nationals say that their prized young core of James Wood, C.J. Abrams, MacKenzie Gore and Dylan Crews is staying put."

7/25/25 Nationals Rookie Brady House Has Quietly Been Very Good Over First Month in MLB. With August just over the horizon and the dog days of summer in full effect, the Washington Nationals have remained one of the worst teams in all of baseball. The Nationals will enter Friday night's matchup against the Minnesota Twins with an abysmal 41-61 record, a mark that ranks second worst in the entire National League behind the Colorado Rockies. The only real silver lining to be found for Washington amid their futility this year has been the emergence of a talented group of young players who the team hopes will ultimately lead the organization back to postseason success. Star sluggers James Wood and CJ Abrams have received a lion's share of the coverage in this regard, but there has also been another youngster who has quietly been finding his footing since his recent call up.

7/21/25 Nationals Star Insists Home Run Derby Isn't To Blame for Prolonged Slump. One of the lone bright spots surrounding the Washington Nationals this season has been the emergence of James Wood. After putting together a good stretch when he was called up on July 1 during the 2024 campaign, the slugging outfielder has started to become a household name, earning his first All-Star Game selection this year and an invite to compete in the Home Run Derby. Wood's struggles have extended far beyond just that stretch, though, with him going 4-for-40 at the plate with four walks and 18 strikeouts since July 3, the game where he went 5-for-5 with a homer and two RBI against the Detroit Tigers. "No, I don't really buy that," he said, per Mark Zuckerman of MASN.

7/19/25 Nationals Predicted to Trade Kyle Finnegan to Division Rival at Trade Deadline. As the Washington Nationals start up the second half of the season, it has once again been a disappointing year in 2025. After seeing some glimpses that their young core might be emerging in 2024, it has been a step in the wrong direction or a lateral direction for the Nationals. This is a team that has some budding stars in James Wood and MacKenzie Gore. With the franchise also being hesitant to spend money on veterans to help out, the rebuild for Washington has been going on for quite some time now.

7/18/25 Nationals Can Add Talent to Deep Farm System Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline. Given how poorly the Washington Nationals have performed on the field over the last few years, they have had ample opportunities to add high-end talent to their farm system in the MLB Draft. Left fielder James Wood, shortstop CJ Abrams and ace MacKenzie Gore all came courtesy of the Padres.
