7/17/25 | Rockies 'Intriguing Pitching Prospect' Needs Work to Make Most of Skill Set. Since their inception, the Colorado Rockies have consistently had the same issues to overcome on the mound. The conditions at their home ballpark, Coors Field, are a massive deterrent when attempting to woo free agents into signing with the club. Making a trade is always an option, but given the recent state of the franchise, there hasn't been a reason to spend any assets to bring in upgrades. The Rockies are hoping they can get the most out of Chase Dollander, their first-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft who made his Big League debut this year. 7/08/25 | Rockies Manager Shares More Details On Why Star Rookie Was Demoted. The Colorado Rockies have boasted one of the worst pitching staffs in recent memory over the first several months of the 2025 season, with the team ranking at or near the bottom of the league in every major statistical category. Just about every pitcher in the Rockies clubhouse has struggled to find any success on the bump, and this includes the team's former top prospect in right-hander Chase Dollander. Colorado took Dollander with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft in hopes that he would become their Ace of the future, and the rookie made his big league debut back at the start of April. The Rockies promoted the righty in hopes that he would add some stability to a shaky at best rotation, but it's become very apparent that he isn't quite ready for The Show just yet. Dollander, 23, did not make the Rockies' Opening Day roster, but the right-hander was recalled early in the season and made his major league debut April 6 while earning a win over the Athletics. In 15 starts, Dollander was 2-9 with a 6.68 ERA in 68 2/3 innings. Source: https://www.reuters.com/sports/rockies-option-form... |
7/02/25 | Do Numbers Say Rockies Should Be Worried About Chase Dollander?. The Colorado Rockies lost on Tuesday, putting them back on the losing side of things after their win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday stopped a five-game skid. It wasn't a huge surprise to see the Rockies get beat by the Houston Astros to open this interleague series, but it was disappointing to see Chase Dollander getting shelled once again. Coming off a stretch where he had two quality starts in his previous three outings, the 2023 first-round pick who was selected ninth overall couldn't carry that momentum into July. On the year, Dollander has a 6.65 ERA across his 14 starts in his debut season, striking out 50 batters in 65 innings while walking 29. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rockies/news/do-numbers-say... |
