| 3/22/25 | No returns: Ex-Tigers picked in Rule 5 Draft are sticking with their new teams. Around the league, teams are returning Rule 5 picks to their original clubs after those players failed to make the Opening Day roster. Catcher Liam Hicks will open the season with the Miami Marlins, and infielder Gage Workman has already played in Japan with the Chicago Cubs. The Tigers left both players unprotected and lost them in last December's Rule 5 Draft. Under Rule 5 rules, selected players must spend the entire season on their new team's 26-man active roster or be offered back to their original club.
