7/29/25 Royals DFA Former Red Sox Veteran Who Just Made MLB History. The Kansas City Royals designated a unique left-hander for assignment on Tuesday. After making two starts for the Royals in July, this 45-year-old southpaw is once again available on the market, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale. “Veteran starter Rich Hill's comeback lasts two starts with the KC Royals designating him for assignment,” Nightengale reported on Tuesday afternoon. Hill etched his name into the MLB history books by appearing this season with the Royals, as noted by The Athletic's MLB X account recently.

7/28/25 While former Red Sox pitcher Rich Hill makes another comeback, Daniel Bard calls it a career. O'Brien was in the stands when Bard pitched his first game at Fenway Park in 2009. Along with being good pitchers — in much different ways — Bard and Hill are first-class people who proved to be excellent examples of perseverance. Bard, 40, was one of the best relievers in baseball until his career went awry because of the yips starting late in the 2011 season. It got worse when the Sox tried to make him a starter in 2012.

7/27/25 Royals LHP Rich Hill, 45, beating Father Time with Braves up next. Kansas City's Rich Hill continues to prove why he's an ageless wonder on the mound. Perhaps equally as impressive, the 45-year-old Hill has never suffered a losing decision against the Atlanta Braves. Hill looks to build on a solid 2025 debut with his latest club and help the surging Royals attempt to hand the visiting Braves a sixth straight loss on Monday night.

7/23/25 Royals' Rich Hill Sets Multiple Records In Solid Outing Vs. Cubs. Rich Hill made his Major League Baseball debut at Wrigley Field on Jun. 15, 2005, pitching a single inning for the hometown Chicago Cubs. More than 20 years later, Hill was back on the mound at Wrigley sporting a Kansas City Royals uniform. On Tuesday, Hill turned back the clock for a five-inning, one-earned run performance against the high-powered Cubs.
