7/30/25 Former Rockies Star Daniel Bard Discusses Retirement Decision. To the outside world the retirement of former Colorado Rockies reliever Daniel Bard was a bit of a surprise. Turns out it felt that way to Bard, too, who announced his decision on July 18. On Foul Territory, Bard detailed how he made his decision, and it turns out he made the decision just before he was set to return to Triple-A Tacoma.

7/20/25 Ex-Red Sox pitcher retires after attempting MLB comeback. Daniel Bard won't make another MLB comeback after all. In May, Bard threw in front about 10 teams. WEEI's Rob Bradford noted the former Boston Red Sox pitcher drew “significant interest” from Western Division teams. Bard spent five seasons with the Red Sox — his last being 2013.

7/19/25 Intriguing Reliever Who Was Trying to Make Comeback with Seattle Mariners Retires. Daniel Bard, who was trying to make a comeback with the Seattle Mariners, has retired at the age of 40. The retirement is listed on his MLB player page and was picked up by Colorado Rockies' Insider Patrick Lyons. Bard ends his career as a nine-year veteran of the Boston Red Sox and Rockies, but he had a very interesting career arc.
