Nolan Schanuel (1B - LAA)

7/14/25 10:30 AM -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel Joins Mike Trout in Incredible Statistical History. Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel joined outfielder Mike Trout in Halos history Saturday, becoming just the second Angels hitter aged 23 or younger to record 10 or more hits in a four-game span. The last Angel, regardless of age, to accomplish this feat is Kevin Pillar, who did it in the 2024 season. The first baseman has gone 11-for-16 at the plate since July 8 against the Texas Rangers, driving in four runs and scoring twice in the process. The Angels drafted Schanuel in the first round of the 2023 MLB draft, and he shot up through the minor league system, spending less than a month in the lower levels before his debut.

MLB Insider Says Surging Red Sox Could Be World Series Bound. The Boston Red Sox might not need to pursue a high-end starter before this year's trade deadline after all. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic revised his view on Boston's deadline needs on an episode of his podcast “Fair Territory” Monday, citing recent performances across the rotation. “A couple of weeks ago I would have said they needed a number two, right behind Crochet,” Rosenthal said. While Garrett Crochet remains the staff ace, Rosenthal pointed to Lucas Giolito's resurgence and Brayan Bello's step forward as reasons for the shift.

Aaron Judge is barreling toward the hallowed 500-homer club. He might be joined by several peers. Aaron Judge became the fastest player in MLB history to reach 350 home runs on Saturday. It feels inevitable that the Bronx slugger will eventually join the hallowed 500-homer club in the coming years. He might have some company. Roughly a dozen players could reach 500 over the next decade, including Mike Trout, Manny Machado and Bryce Harper. The group is reminiscent of a stretch from 2001 to 2009 when Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr. were among nine sluggers to reach 500.

Kenley Jansen (P - LAA)

7/13/25 9:33 PM -
Angels' Kenley Jansen makes 'disappointing' confession amid trade buzz. The Los Angeles Angels remain in the fringes of the playoff hunt, but the front office cannot operate on delusion and proceed as if they're a surefire candidate to remain in the postseason picture. Jansen only signed a one-year contract with the Angels, and, even though he's been more than solid for LA, racking up 16 saves on an ERA of 3.38 (with only one blown save to boot), if there's an archetype of player that usually gets dealt prior to the trade deadline, it's relief pitchers who can help shore up a playoff team's bullpen for the looming stretch run.

The numbers behind Seattle Mariners' Motor City outburst. Less than 72 hours ago, the Seattle Mariners were coming off their most demoralizing loss of the season. After Bryan Woo took a no-hit bid and a 5-0 lead into the eighth inning, a potentially special night for the M's quickly turned into a Bronx nightmare. The New York Yankees roared all the way back to force extras and then walked off in the 10th, handing Seattle a stunning defeat that finished off a three-game sweep. It was the type of brutal, gut-punch loss that threatened to linger – especially with the MLB-leading Detroit Tigers lurking just around the corner.

Walker Buehler (P - BOS)

7/13/25 9:54 AM -
MLB writer gives Red Sox starter unfortunate first-half label. It's been a less-than-ideal first half of the 2025 season for Walker Buehler. The Boston Red Sox starter goes into the All-Star break boasting a 6.12 ERA. “Would you believe opposing hitters have a slash line of .342/.405/.581 against him away from Fenway?,” Stark wrote. Buehler addressed his struggles after Boston's 4-3 comeback win over the Tampa Bay Rays, and admitted his last two have made him feel better after how the year started.

Yankees unsure of the severity of All-Star Max Fried's blister on index finger. New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was unsure of the severity of Max Fried’s blister on his left index finger, a day after the All-Star left-hander left his start after three innings. “It’s just that (a blister),” Boone said before the Yankees faced the Cubs on Sunday. Fried allowed four runs — three earned — six hits and a season-high three walks in his shortest start since signing a n eight-year, $218 million contract with the Yankees in December. Nine of 18 hitters reached base, Fried threw only 39 of 73 pitches for strikes and fell behind with first-pitch balls to nine batters.

Red Sox LHP Garrett Crochet Continues to Etch Name in MLB History Books. The Boston Red Sox were already the hottest team in baseball entering the weekend, but having Garrett Crochet take the bump took them to new heights. Crochet got the start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, trying to keep his team's eight-game winning streak alive. The Red Sox lineup didn't help much in that regard, scoring just one run in the contest. As it turned out, though, that's all Boston would need to win its ninth consecutive game.

Royals Could Target Recently Released Yankees Veteran To Boost Lineup. The Kansas City Royals have been playing better baseball as of late, though they recently lost two excruciating games to the New York Mets and are now back in third place in the American League Central. According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, multiple teams are showing interest in veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu, who the New York Yankees recently cut ties with. If Kansas City wants a bat, LeMahieu is available and is somebody that they could take a look at.
