Top Prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft: Running Back Edition. The 2025 NFL Draft is just around the corner, ushering in the last wave of mock drafts and predictions for all 32 clubs. The Buccaneers own the 19th overall pick in the first and the 53rd overall pick in the second. While the Buccaneers do not have a glaring need at the running back spot with a loaded room including Bucky Irving, Rachaad White and Sean Tucker and Tampa Bay will likely not be taking a running back until the later rounds (if at all), it is always fun for football junkies to dive into an evaluation of the top prospects.

Rarely mentioned aspect of kick return rule could benfefit Bears. Chicago Bears special teams coordinator Richard Hightower is not one of those because he has been at he creation point all along with the NFL's new kickoff rule. Hightower pointed out a change in the NFL kick return rule besides the positioning for touchbacks and it's something Devin Duvernay could benefit from eventually. While touchbacks will now be put at the 35-yard line to incentivize more kick returns, positioning will be different.

81-game starting guard reveals Bengals have interest in NFL free agency. The Cincinnati Bengals still have a few pressing needs that must be addressed, including guard. The team moved on from Alex Cappa earlier this offseason and doesn't have a reliable starter at the position, as they are currently slated to start Cordell Volson at left guard and Cody Ford at right guard. Cincinnati won't be able to compete for a Super Bowl in the AFC if the offensive line is a liability. The front office could look to address the need for a guard in the draft, but the free agency market is still filled with a few starting-caliber players, including Dalton Risner.

Despite their continued struggle to get past the Kansas City Chiefs, the Buffalo Bills' window for winning the Super Bowl is still wide open. Buffalo has had one of the most successful runs in the NFL postseason over the last eight years. The Bills have made the playoffs seven of the previous eight seasons with five consecutive AFC East titles. Cincinnati Bengals Legend To Announce Teams Second-, Third-Round Picks of NFL Draft Next Weekend. Cincinnati Bengals legend and 2024 Ring of Honor inductee Tim Krumrie will be in Green Bay, Wisc., for the draft and will announce the team's second- and third-round picks next week. The NFL on Thursday released the full list of legends who will be announcing their team's selections. Krumrie was an obvious selection for the Bengals given that it's his home state and where he played college for the University of Wisconsin. According to Pro Football Reference, Krumrie's 1,008 solo tackles are nearly 500 more than the next closest Bengals player (although they were much harder to track prior to 1994).

A recent run of weak draft hauls and an exodus of talent this offseason has left the San Francisco 49ers in a different spot heading into this year's draft. Instead of looking mostly for depth or filling a few small holes, the Niners might need to come away with several immediate starters from this year's draft if they want to rebound from a 6-11 season. “We've gone into drafts these last few years, not as much last year, but especially the two years prior to where you look at our board, and it's like, 'Man, we don't really have to find a starter anywhere,” coach Kyle Shanahan said at the league meetings earlier this month. The New Orleans Saints have been languishing outside the playoff picture for four years and now are hoping rookie coach Kellen Moore can improve their prospects for a return to contention. How long the road back to relevance winds up being could hinge on how well the club uses its nine 2025 draft choices, starting with the ninth overall pick in the first round. Entering 2017, the Saints were in a three-year playoff drought when a fruitful draft that included cornerback Marshon Lattimore, right tackle Ryan Ramczyk and running back Alvin Kamara produced a return to the postseason that same year. By the 2018 season, the Saints were the No. 1 playoff seed in the NFC, hosted the conference title game and were perhaps one late blown call away from going to the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots added Stefon Diggs in free agency to boost the team's wide receiver corps, but it remains a position the team should explore boosting through the 2025 NFL Draft. While the Patriots drafted Ja'Lynn Polk (second round) and Javon Baker (fourth round) in 2024, neither were able to do much throughout their rookie season. It would be in New England's best interest to add another young pass-catcher to the mix who could grow alongside second-year QB Drake Maye. All Watson has done throughout his Browns career is prove that he isn't the guy, and for a team that needs to find a long-term quarterback option, the 29-year-old has shown he isn't it. With Joe Flacco returning, too, there's a scenario where it wouldn't even make sense to have Watson on the roster, but cutting him would bring many challenges to the Browns' already brutal cap situation.

With multiple holes across the roster—but also a few promising young pieces in place—Big Blue must prioritize value and future upside as they look to rebuild through this year's draft. Offensively, they were among the league's worst—ranking third-to-last in total yards per game (294.8), fifth-worst in passing (189.9) despite the addition of rookie standout Malik Nabers, and in the bottom third in rushing (104.9). Only the Browns scored fewer points per game (16.1), and while the Giants' pass defense looked decent on paper (eighth-fewest yards allowed), that was largely a product of game script, as opponents rarely needed to throw after building early leads.

Saints 'Could Be In Play' For Polarizing Quarterback. The New Orleans Saints have a need to fill at quarterback that wasn't as large last week. New Orleans seemingly has been interested in drafting a quarterback all along, but had Derek Carr set as the 2025 starter. Who would be a quarterback for the team then? Well, the team does have Spencer Rattler who made six starts last year, although the team didn't win a game over that stretch.

Panthers-Ravens trade proposal deals key OL, Day 3 pick for Mark Andrews. The Carolina Panthers are probably in the market for a pass-catcher, and a top-notch one at a position of need just so happens to potentially be available. Trade rumors abound about Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, and the Panthers are a prime destination. A fourth-round pick (in this case, it's the 114th pick) isn't going to be as good as Mark Andrews.

Deuce's Mock Draft 2.0: Patriots Fortify the Trenches with Campbell, Add Playmakers and Depth. The 2025 NFL Draft finally arrives next week, and with it comes the opportunity for the Patriots to build upon a productive free agency period by stacking some young promising talent onto the depth chart, hopefully at the team's biggest positions of need. Once again, the assumption here for mock drafting purposes is that both Penn State's Abdul Carter and Colorado's Travis Hunter will be off the board, and in this scenario, the Patriots cannot find a trade partner to allow them to drop down a few spots and pick up even more capital. Last time I took a big swing on Ashton Jeanty, a running back whose selection might've gone against modern wisdom at the position, but it's one I believe would make an instant and unmistakable impact on Drake Maye's development and the offense as a whole. There are no big swings here for the final mock draft.

The NFL's Washington Commanders and the District of Columbia are in discussions about a new football stadium in the nation's capital, a person with knowledge of talks said Wednesday. No deal has been finalized yet, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because there was no agreement in place. The team has been looking for a new stadium for several years, and that search moved to a new level when Josh Harris' group bought the Commanders from previous owner Dan Snyder in 2023.

Chargers steal instant starter and new name in second round of latest mock draft. Last year, they drafted Ladd McConkey in the second round, who exceeded expectations in his first year with the Bolts. McConkey had 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 regular season games, then followed that up with a 197-yard, one-touchdown performance in their Wild Card loss. Outside of McConkey, the Chargers failed to find anyone to step up to be the second option on offense. Former first round pick Quentin Johnston had 711 yards and eight touchdowns, but was wildly inconsistent as drops plagued his sophomore season.

Specifically, Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, widely rated one of the top five players in the draft and the best running back prospect since Saquon Barkley in 2018. Listed at 5-feet-8-inches and 211 pounds, Jeanty rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns in 14 games last season and finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting.
