The Astros had their fair share of departures in offseasons, losing several key homegrown stars over the years but always having a plan on how to replace the production that was being lost. A big reason they have been performing at such a high level for as long as they have been is that they have successfully identified and developed young talent they land in the MLB draft. As time has gone on, it's becoming clear that the A's were the team to come out furthest ahead from the Astros' selections that year. With the No. 37 pick, the Astros selected Derek Fisher, who made his MLB debut in 2017 and then bounced around a bit from 2019 to 2022 playing for the Blue Jays and Brewers, then in the minors with the Twins.
