9/07/25 Blue Jays Starting Rotation Has Major Concerns to Overcome Down Stretch. There has been a lot of focus recently on the Toronto Blue Jays' bullpen and rightfully so given their struggles. In recent weeks, there isn't a team that has blown more saves than the Blue Jays. The production of closer Jeff Hoffman has been volatile and the team has not received the kind of positive impact they had hoped for from deadline acquisition Louis Varland. Manager John Schneider has to figure out something with the bullpen, and quickly.

8/31/25 Toronto Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman just made unfortunate franchise history. The Toronto Blue Jays have hit a late-season snag, and closing pitcher Jeff Hoffman is catching a lot of heat for the team's struggles. With 25 games remaining on the schedule, the Blue Jays' AL East lead has now been cut to two games with the New York Yankees breathing down their necks. It hasn't helped that Toronto has dropped four of its last six games in disappointing fashion. Two of those losses came in the ninth inning with Hoffman failing to live up to his role as the Blue Jays' closer.

8/30/25 Another Bullpen Implosion, Jays Lose to Brewers 4-1. Another pitching duel lost, although this one wasn’t blown open as dramatically as yesterday’s. Kevin Gauman was terrific, but the offence couldn’t muster much of anything and Jeff Hoffman imploded yet again. Hoffman has now given up eight runs on eight hits (four home runs) in his last four appearances, blowing three saves and picking […]

8/27/25 John Schneider's NSFW reaction to 'electric' win over Twins. The Toronto Blue Jays suffered an ugly ninth-inning collapse against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday as reliever Jeff Hoffman blew a save opportunity. But Toronto got its revenge with an epic eighth-inning comeback in the series finale. Manager John Schneider was fired up after the Blue Jays' late-game heroics lifted the team to 78-56 on the season. Toronto is now tied with the Detroit Tigers for the best record in the American League. “That was loud. That was an electric atmosphere. These guys do not quit. They don't give a shit who they're playing against. They don't care what the situation is. I love it,” Schneider said, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. Addison Barger comes through in clutch

8/27/25 Blue Jays seek to shake off bullpen troubles in finale against Twins. The Toronto Blue Jays are facing some bullpen questions that will continue past the rubber match in their three-game series against the visiting Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night. Despite being fortified at the trade deadline, Toronto's bullpen continues to be inconsistent entering the stretch drive. It was never more evident than in the ninth inning on Tuesday when closer Jeff Hoffman allowed two homers and four runs in a 7-5 loss to the Twins that brought boos from the crowd. Toronto won the opener on Monday, 10-4.

8/26/25 Toronto's Hoffman blows save in 7-5 loss to Twins. TORONTO – The Minnesota Twins hit two homers off Toronto closer Jeff Hoffman in the ninth inning of a 7-5 comeback victory over the Blue Jays on Tuesday at Rogers Centre. Mickey Gasper led off the frame with his first career homer to tie the game and Matt Wallner put the Twins ahead with a three-run blast. It was the seventh blown save of the season for Hoffman (8-5). Michael Tonkin (2-0) recorded two outs in the eighth inning for the win and Justin Topa earned his fourth save. The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-8 on Wednesday afternoon at Camden Yards, salvaging the fourth game of a four-game series. 7/29/25 Blue Jays Top Prospect Being Promoted To Triple-A Buffalo After Dominant Stretch. The Toronto Blue Jays are going to be on the lookout for some pitching help ahead of the 2025 MLB trade deadline. If the opportunity presents itself, the Blue Jays could also look to acquire some help for the backend of their bullpen, where Jeff Hoffman has been lights out at points and far too hittable at others. While the farm system may not provide Toronto's Big League roster with much help this year, there is one player making a name for himself that could reach The Show by the end of the 2025 season. Kendry Rojas, the team's No. 6 ranked prospect, is being promoted to Triple-A Buffalo after strong rehab assignments at the Florida Complex League and Single-A Dunedin preceded some strong showings with Double-A New Hampshire.

7/19/25 Phillies Named Best Landing Spot for Guardians Pitcher at MLB Trade Deadline. The Philadelphia Phillies were certainly happy the All-Star break came when it did, giving the coaching staff and players a few days to rest up and reset. The Phillies know if they want to hold onto that spot and improve their odds of making a deep run in the postseason, they will have to make some moves ahead of the July 31 MLB trade deadline. The offseason losses of Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez have hurt.

7/11/25 Former MLB Exec Reveals Cost for Phillies To Land Ryan Helsley From Cardinals. The Philadelphia Phillies have a few areas they would love to shore up ahead of the 2025 MLB trade deadline. Losing Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez in free agency last winter was always going to be a tough blow to overcome.

7/03/25 Phillies Can Solve Late-Inning Bullpen Woes Signing Veteran Free Agent. The Philadelphia Phillies have cemented their status as one of the best teams in baseball, but they do have one need that has to be addressed ahead of the MLB trade deadline: their bullpen. More specifically, a need for another relief pitcher who has late-inning and high-leverage experience. The Phillies lost Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez in free agency this past winter. Jose Alvarado will return down the stretch from an 80-game suspension, but he isn't eligible to pitch in the postseason when the team needs him most.

6/30/25 Phillies Mentioned As Potential Landing Spot for Orioles All-Star in Trade. The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the best teams in baseball once again during the 2025 MLB regular season. For the Phillies, their most pressing need seems to be on the mound, where their bullpen could use some reinforcements. The losses of Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez have proven difficult to overcome. Add on Jose Alvarado being suspended, and the team is missing arguably their three best relievers from what was a strength last year.

6/27/25 Philadelphia Phillies Have Two Hitters Thriving in High-Leverage Situations. There has been a lot of discussion about what the Philadelphia Phillies are going to do ahead of the MLB trade deadline this year. The losses of Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez in free agency were already proving hard enough to overcome; add in closer Jose Alvarado being suspended 80 games, and things got that much tougher. With center fielder Brandon Marsh getting back on track, the need to add a hitter has certainly diminished.

6/26/25 Blue Jays Star Reliever Jeff Hoffman Reaches Career Milestone. Jeff Hoffman is in his first season with the Toronto Blue Jays and is proving to be one of their best relievers in the bullpen. While this is his first year up north, he's in his 10th season in the Majors and just reached a career milestone: pitching in his 500th inning according to their official social media account. The only reliever with more strikeouts on the team is Brendon Little (52), who has thrown three more innings than Hoffman.
