6/04/25 Seattle Mariners Manager Discusses Interesting Lineup Decision Wednesday. The Seattle Mariners have placed a lot of value on the versatility of their roster this season — both publicly and internally. Gold Glove-winning utility player Dylan Moore will get the nod in right field for Seattle over switch-hitter Leody Taveras against left-handed Baltimore starter Cade Povich. The switch-hitting ability provided by Taveras allows him to remain in the lineup across the whole game, but Moore's ability against lefties has been well-documented this season.

4/12/25 Seattle Mariners' Dylan Moore Discusses Gold Glove Award, Maintaining Versatility. SEATTLE — "Versatile" is a word that gets thrown around when describing the Seattle Mariners infield. It's how manager Dan Wilson has referred to the unit on several occasions already this season. Donovan Solano, Miles Mastrobuoni, Jorge Polanco and Leo Rivas all can, or have, played multiple positions for the Mariners. In a worst case scenario, such as injuries, it allows Seattle to slot someone with relatively low drop-off on defense.

Among Dylan Moore, Ryan Bliss and Leo Rivas, Bliss might be in the pole position given that he's had a great camp and that the Mariners have hinted that they may prefer Moore in more of a super utility role that he's thrived in.

2/20/25 Mariners' Jerry Dipoto reveals stance on playing prospects to start 2025 season. The Seattle Mariners have a bit of a competition at second base, with Dylan Moore being viewed as the favorite for the job and Leo Rivas and Ryan Bliss also in the picture. “We are open to the idea that if any of our young players — if we feel like they have the ability to impact us in a meaningful way — show us that this is their time, we're just going to let them run,” Jerry Dipoto said, via Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. The Mariners are a team that would like some more offensive help alongside Julio Rodriguez, and Young, who is just 21 years old, might be on the way soon, even if he does not reach the majors out of camp.
